Description: The Reserve Room takes you on the ultimate wine country tasting journey unlike anything you've experienced in a wine tasting room before! Not only can you taste our reserve label wines, but you are taken on a food and wine adventure with Executive Chef, J. Clayton Lewis! Each guest takes a seat in our comfortable and intimate room where you can enjoy wine-inspired art, a little music and views of the hillside vineyards of Kenwood located just out our window. You are then treated to a seven-course pairing menu that includes seven Mayo Family Reserve wines crafted by Winemaker Michel Berthoud and seven artisian bites created and prepared by Chef J. Clayton Lewis to compliment each wine. The Mayo Family RESERVE ROOM is our opportunity to take you further into the wine and food experience that defines Wine Country.

Happened upon Mayo Reserve Room by chance in a guide book so booked in, and so glad we did! Great food that was enhanced by the wine - and vice versa! Friendly staff and just great overall experience. Particularly liked the apple and blue cheese ravioli, wasn't what I was expecting and pleasantly surprised :-)

Really enjoyed the wine tasting here. Mayo was recommended by the B&B we stayed in. The server was very knowledgeable. Wines were all delicious!

As a Northern California resident for 30 years and a lover of good food and wine, going to the wine country is part of our "standard operating procedure". I would highlight recommend the food and wine pairing at the Mayo Reserve Room. Mayo wines are not sold in many places, so we were unfamiliar with them - almost exclusively sold here at the winery and the reserve room -- which are two separate locations we learned.

We tasted seven mini courses for lunch, with matching wines. The chef, we were told has, French Laundry experience so his menu and preparation had a number of surprises of unique items. The pours were generous. An excellent value for $35 pp. Plan to spend 2 hours here! We'll go back with friends for sure. The decor is nothing to write about, very simple place, but friendly and fun.

This is a small winery in Napa. The best way to do Mayo Reserve Room is to do a food and wine pairing. They do a nice job of this....in a more casual setting than some wineries. Food and wine pairing was excellent. You can make reservations through Open Table (also posted on their web site.).

In terms of a winery just for tasting, I would probably rate this a 3 star experience - average tasting in an area with so many wineries...that average still means good.

However with the food and wine pairing it puts it to a 5 star experience. It does take some time and expect pacing to be when the food is ready to serve....i.e. do not schedule yourself too tightly - make this one of your main events for the day.
The pairing menu is posted on their web site (and it can vary by season). Everything was tasty and paired well.

The Mayo wine and food pairing should not be missed. The chef has a very inventive and broad ranging menu (six or more courses of tapas size portions), each paired with a different Mayo wine. The November 2013 pairings included a viognier, chardonnay, merlot, barbera and zinfandel, plus a port with dessert. The experience of tasting wines with and without food is fantastic. The space is intimate and low key, and the people are incredibly friendly and informative.
