Wow! I loved the warm Italian family vibe at VJB Cellars, and the wine is nothing short of amazing!
It was under construction in November, but the tasting room is up and running. It's not the most picturesque location (like say Benzinger or Ledson), but their wine will not disappoint! During my trip, I checked out six wineries along the highway, and this was definitely my fave.
We went during the Holiday Open House and tasted five wines (plus a sixth we tried straight from the barrel! -- I believe it was a Cabernet avail in 2012). The owner poured our glasses, kindly telling us all about their wines. We went home with the Mendocino Barbera and Dante (Cabernet/Sangiovese blend).
Also, I'm not sure if it was just for the holiday event, but we got to try some delicious pastas -- a tomato penne, and spirals with pesto sauce. Yum!
