“A Good Find”

The guesthouse is conveniently located around wineries and between Sonoma and Santa Rosa. Several restaurants are in a short driving distance. We particularlly enjoyed the meals at Vineyard Inn (Kenwood) and Yeti (Glen Ellen). Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to try out the new comer- Glen Ellen Star (Glen Ellen). Till next time.
The guesthouse itself is a great place to relax with a book or a glass/cup of wine/coffee in hands out on the deck before and after your wine adventures. Nature lovers will certainly be excited about the different wildbirds hanging around the big oak tree next to the house. And, look up those unannounced visitors...wild turkeys and deer.
Joan was a graceful host. She helped us to plan our daily wine tours, served us abundant breakfast every morning, and recommended hiking routes and nearby restaurants. Specially, we appreciated she was a true "green" supporter and advocator. Don't forget to ask Joan to bake you a delicious pear pie when you are there!!

Room Tip: If you don't want to take few steps down the hall to use your own bathroom, choose in the ensuit...

My girlfriend and I stayed here one weekend while we were up in Sonoma for a friend's wedding. The place is beautiful, with a lovely deck out back where we had a picnic dinner and just got to relax and take in the scenery. Joan (the owner) is an excellent mix of very friendly and very organized - she had snacks and some of her brother's homemade wine ready for us when we got there, the house was well stocked and she really made us feel right at home. The next time we look to stay in the Kenwood area, we are definitely going to see if she has a room available.

This is a great little B&B. Many B&B's have frilly rooms that make you think you are staying at your grandmother's house. Not here. Rooms are stylish, contemporary and not over-done. Joan is an exceptional hostess who bends over backwards to make sure every question is answered, every need is addressed and every want is met. I almost started to feel guilty asking any additional questions because she (and Storm) are so eager to go above and beyond. One thing to make sure you are aware about ... you have your own private (beautiful) bathroom, but just not in your room. A few steps down the hall and you are there. If you need a bathroom in your room, you will be disappointed. Otherwise, slip on a house provided robe and slippers and off you go.

Dear DenverBob: You and Kathy were such great and energetic Guests and it was a delight having you stay with us! Thank you for this nice review, too. For future Guests however, I wanted to take a moment to clarify that we have 4 rooms: 2 with the bathrooms IN the suites, and 2 with the bathrooms across the hall. If you have a preference, we have options! Thanks again, and warm regards to you both.

This is a little gem! You couldn't make a better choice for accommodations in Sonoma Valley than this inviting guest house with its superb location, oodles of amenities, warm hospitality, and creature comforts. Charming and thoughtfully appointed guest rooms offer every convenience. Welcoming owner and Innkeeper Joan cheerfully offers informed suggestions for wonderful Wine Country discoveries you would otherwise miss, and you will find she has provided everything you need for a tasty and healthy breakfast. The quiet country location is in the most beautiful part of the scenic Sonoma Valley, nestled in a meadow surrounded by giant oaks, wildlife and birds of all types. ring your binoculars! Convenient to the historic town of Sonoma and the valley's many choice wineries, the immediate area also offers quiet country roads for walks or cycling. We stayed in the Cottage, overlooking the horse corral and friendly horses, with deer grazing in the field beyond, quail families foraging, and an occasional hawk soaring overhead. Pretty, colorful gardens for quiet moments too. Kenwood Oaks is truly a home away from home, including comfy beds, cushy towels and robes, and equipped with any essential you could imagine for a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable stay in one of the worlds most beautiful destinations.

My fiancée and I were extending our trip from San Francisco so I could experience Sonoma Wine Country for the first time. The area in Sonoma is beautiful and the wineries were pleasant, but nothing compared to our stay at Kenwood Oaks Guest House! WOW!!! I should have known before we arrived how friendly and helpful Joan is since she spent over an hour on the phone with me assisting with our trip plans offering wonderful suggestions. She gave us great recommendations for dining and wineries in the very close proximity. We enjoyed the relaxing, comfortable and charming home with Joan and her dog Honey. We went on walks around the neighborhood and experienced the beauty of Kenwood and the tranquility of her property. Thank you Joan for sharing your home with us and providing a fabulous first experience in Sonoma Wine Country. We are hopeful to return in the not too distant future for a longer stay at Kenwood Oaks Guest House.

I had a tough time deciding where to stay when I was getting ready for our trip to wine country. My wife and I would be travelling with friends from South Carolina so we wanted to get away from the sterile hotel experience and let our friends experience a B&B for the first time. Turns out we made the right choice! Kenwood Oaks Guest House is a wonderful place; very secluded but close to the 116 running through Kenwood and all the wineries. It fit our needs perfectly since we would be going to the Russian River Valley and Sonoma on this trip. Joan is a great hostess and helped with our planning each day. The continental breakfasts were just right and the rooms were all wonderful. Of course the horses she has went right to my wife's heart so I had a tough time getting my wife to leave! I'd definitely recommend this to anyone planning a visit to wine country! Thanks again for your hospitality, Joan!

Kenwood Oaks Guest House in Kenwood, California is an outstanding B&B located in the Sonoma Valley. If you are in to wine tasting, fine dining or just hanging out under a big oak tree this is the place to be. We could only stay 2 nights this time but could have spent a month there....Thank you Joan Finkle for the great time.
