This was our second winery for the day, having visited St. Francis Winery (excellent) previously, so we compared everything to St. Francis and Kunde failed miserably with respect to everything in their tasting room.
First, the wines were not all that great, out of the 6 that we tasted, we barely liked one. And, you have to pay upfront ($20) and they remind you till you've paid! The staff member that served us was Taylor, a young guy in his 20's and totally ignorant of any wine knowledge and hence, completely useless for tasting purposes. He also seemed in a hurry to get out of there, and rushed us into our tasting. He also wandered off in the middle of the tasting and we were left wondering if the tasting was over, although we were only halfway through the wine list! He did come back later, and then left again, this time for good!
Awful experience! Another lady then took over and helped us finish our tasting and she was very good. So, if you go tasting here, and see a young guy named Taylor, STEER CLEAR!
We then hung around to take the Cave Tour with a lady named June. We were with another couple and so it turned out to be a semi-exclusive, intimate tour. I think it lasted about 30-45 minutes and is complementary. June took us through the history of the family owned business and we walked up to the vineyard where we saw some fledgling grape seeds and learned about their sustainable farming practices. We then headed over to the caves where the wine is stored and that was quite interesting.
You can easily skip this and head over somewhere else , as most wineries offer tours.
