Owner description: A great place for some wine-tasting when visiting Sonoma Valley.

If you only have time to stop at one winery in the heart of Sonoma Valley or you have a group of friends with varied tastes in wine do stop at the Family Wineries of Sonoma County. This modest & homey tasting room with a huge backyard & picnic tables gives guests the opportunity to enjoy wine from seven family run boutique wineries at one location. I live in Sonoma County and have visited over 100 wineries. I continually bring out of town guests to this winery as the welcoming staff pours over 32 wines on any given day leaving even the most particular wine affectionados satisfied.

We recently did a limo wine tour of the Dry Creek Valley and our first stop was Wilson Winery on Dry Creek Road. The staff of two women were wonderful and very knowledgeable about the wines. They were very generous and allowed us to try many different wines. We were a group of 8 and live in neighboring Marin County and have been up to the wine country many times. We found their wines to be outstanding! Two couples joined their wine club. We then went to PapaPietro Winery which was a small boutique winery with excellent wines as well. We did a picnic lunch at Sbragia which is located at the end of Dry Creek Road and has spectacular views of all of Dry Creek Valley. Our last stop was Bella Vineyards where they have their wine tasting in the caves. By then we weren't really sure if their wines were good or not as we had had too much to drink. We used Beau Limo service and the driver Joe was very knowledgeable about the wine country and which were the best to hit.

Our first stop on our trip to the Sonoma/Napa area was at the Mayo Winery Reserve Tasting Room in Kenwood.(Not to be confused with the Mayo Winery near Glen Ellen). They do a 7 course wine and food pairing, and all the little food samples are cooked fresh by their on-site chef. Jim was waiting on us and did a superb job serving up informative tidbits along with all the wine and tasty morsels. We had a blast here and for $25 it was a very unique and wonderful experience. It's NOT a meal, but works as a light lunch for the girls or a perfect happy hour stop.Would go again in a heartbeat!
