“Great Base for your Sierras Adventure”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013

We stayed here for 4 days during our trip to the Eastern Sierra, and enjoyed every minute. The cabins were clean, cute and spacious. The owners/operators were VERY friendly and helpful, and made us feel like family from the moment we arrived. The common space in the center is great - and we found it being well used every night we were there. The only complaint I would have about the place is that many years after it was built, it was hemmed-in by 2 story condo buildings, so it's quaint architecture is somewhat lost. If you're looking to spend time in June Lakes, though, it's just about the best spot to be in!

The position of our Cabin was perfect, close to the village and to the Lake. It was clean, spacious and although me and my sister had a sofa-bed, we slept very well. We loved it and would love to go back immediately. The owners, especially Mrs Laura, are very welcoming and efficient: she offered us board games and dvds too!
We recommend it to families with kids, to couples and to people who want to enjoy nature, relax and put their mind at rest for a few days!

My family has gone to June Lake every summer for the last 6 years (and we've already booked for next summer). Every year, we stay at Lake Front Cabins. The owners (Bob and Laura) and incredibly nice and very accommodating. It feels like we're staying with friends and not just at some hotel.

The cabins are within walking distance to almost everything we need:

June Lake Marina: 3 min
Restaurants/Tackle/GiftShop: 5 min
Grocery Store: 8 min
Gull Lake: 10 min

Since we've been coming to Lake Front Cabins, we've stayed in the two bedroom cabins (cabins 5 and 8), the studio, and the main house. While the 2-beds are adequate for our party of 6, the kitchens are a bit small, so we usually stay in the main house, which has a bigger living room and kitchen (we usually stay for a week at a time, so it's nice to be able to bring a lot of food for the week). My sister brought her son a couple years ago and they stayed in the studio, which has a great view of the lake.

The showers in the bathrooms are a little small but plenty of linens are provided. The kitchens have plates, silverware, cups/glasses, and most cookware needed to cook up a meal. They also provide several propane BBQs to use. We forgot to bring a meat thermometer this year but Laura let us borrow one of theirs.

On this last trip, we walked around town a bit, exploring the area, and Lake Front Cabins is definitely the most well-kept of the places to stay. Bob and Laura work very hard at keeping the place immaculate.

One of the best features of the property is the outdoor fire-pit/BBQ area. My mom and step-dad especially love to sit by the fire every night, have a few drinks, and meet new people. There is usually no shortage of friendly faces to share stories, make s'mores, etc.

Some families have been coming to Lake Front Cabins for 20 years, and I have a feeling we will eventually be one of those.

Thank you so much for the review, we sincerely appreciate it. It's families like yours that make our whole world go around. We especially love that you do everything together, appreciate all that June Lake has to offer, smoke your trout, share your backyard oranges and (oh my) those cooking smells that are forever coming out of your cabin. See you next year.

This is a difficult review because the owners, Bob and Laura, are so sweet and helpful, but we feel that we need to at least balance the other reviews on Trip Advisor. We chose Lake Front Cabins based on the rave reviews on Trip Advisor. Given the price we were paying for a one bedroom cabin, we expected something different than what we got. The cabin, while very clean, was dark and faced the parking lot. If a car wasn't parked right in front of the window, the view was of the fish cleaning station. The photos make the cabins look more spacious and brighter than they are, which is normal given that photos are generally taken with a wide angle lens to show more of the room. In particular, the kitchen in our cabin was almost impossible to work in. The layout has the stove directly opposite of the refrigerator, less than two feet away, which makes it difficult to work. The space between the stove and the bottom cabinets is less than a foot, just enough to open the cabinet door. Also, the stove is essentially free-standing, so that a pot's handle sticks out and could be bumped into and knocked off the stove.

There are two one-bedroom units in each cabin, so that although the exterior walls of the cabins are built solidly the interior walls are paper thin so noise travels between the units. Our first night the cabin next to us was empty, but the second night it was occupied and the people in that unit were very noisy. They were entertaining friends so they were speaking loudly and playing instruments. It was as if they were in the same room with us it was so loud. You also hear the toilet flushing in the adjacent unit.

The interiors of the cabins are in need of renovation, although as I mentioned, they were very clean. So if you go, don't expect too much, except for a gracious welcome.

Room Tip: The two-bedroom cottages are much nicer and probably you don't hear noise from the neighboring u...

Thank you for the review, we welcome all feedback and were truly sorry to hear that you felt your stay was “not worth the price”. You mentioned the cabin was dark - on your departure I noticed a blown bulb in the overhead kitchen light (easily visible through the fixture). Our 1-bedroom cabins are on the parking lot side, as shown and described clearly on our website and our cabin photos are taken with my Canon Powershot (not a wide angle lens) and show the size and configuration of the kitchen and gives square footage of our cabins. Our 2-bedroom cabins are similar in construction and furnishings but have a second bedroom. Because they outside the grassed picnic area, they do have more ambiance. The noisy night you mentioned was a very hot evening (everyone had windows open) and there were two musicians playing/singing (nice mellow music) on the patio of a neighboring hotel (the Haven). I too could hear it in my home across the street, they stopped at 10 pm. I know you enjoyed your hiking and hope you would give us a second chance, I’m sure you won’t find a better “value” in June Lake.

Cute place, great for families. We stayed in a two bedroom cabin. The cabins face a central courtyard with a variety of picnic tables and chairs, BBQ grills and a fire pit. Our boys loved wandering around in the courtyard and kicking around the soccer balls they had sitting around while we unpacked. When we pulled in, Laura met us in the driveway and suggested we take a short walk to the lake before sunset, which was very nice after a long day of driving. She also suggested the Tiger Bar for food which is just a couple blocks away. Nice not to have to get back into the car! The cabin kitchen was simply, but well equipped, lots of bedding and towels were provided, which was great for kids. Everything in the cabin was thought out, we just brought in our bags and we were relaxing immediately. We came at the beginning of May so there were very few others staying there, it was quiet and so peaceful!

Their website oddly said they had no rooms available when I originally checked. I'm so glad I called anyways!

Room Tip: We had cabin 5 which had a room with a queen and a room with two twins. The couch was also a fold o...

So glad you called us for this last-minute reservation. Our online reservations show availability for "next day", not the same day. Thank you for this review. Hope to see your family again.

We have stayed in a Studio cabin for one night in March. The studio was clean and well equipped, perfect for travelers who like to prepare their meals by themselves.
Bob and Laura are very nice and explain you everything you need to know.
The location is beautiful and very quiet especially during winter. Good if you want to take a break from other more touristic location. The cabins are located just in front of June Lake and not very far from easter part of Yosemite park, in the middle of Sierra. Lakes around are beautiful and you can have some very nice walks around them.
Be careful, if you want to visit Yosemite during winter, there is no access from there to the National Park as the Tioga Road (120) is closed until May / June.

I have been coming to Lake Front Cabins for 30 years and they have never looked better! Bob and Laura are amazing! Anything you need all you have to do is ask! They have put their whole heart into making any vacation warm and memorable. Fishing, hiking, skiing, anything you want to do is just minuets away. I can't wait for my annual trip in May!
