“No hot water!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

I was here with a group of high school students in January 2012, we had one of the building all to our self, but after about 2 people showered there was no hot water. They tried to get it fixed, and opened other rooms for us to shower in. On the up side the high school students loved the in door pool and all the animal heads!

I spent over 20 years in the Hotel Industry and found the following to be so true.

Hospitality does not start with the age or condition of the property. It starts with the people, and these folks are the most accommodating I have seen in the industry for quite some time.

The property is an older style rustic lodge, however it is very clean, the linens and towels are of great quality. We had the 1 bedroom with kitchen, and it was very comfortable. The views are great with a Bald Eagle hanging out in a tree off our balcony all week. The snowfall was an added bonus and made our week of snowmobiling great. This is the best place to stay for the lake views. So much snow that it was not worth going out for 2 days, and the room was a great place to hang out. The lobby area was warm with a fire going, spa and steam room ready for use. Pool closed for the winter and this was understandable.

Requests were honored with a smile and handled immediately. Call to our room during our stay to see if we needed anything. All staff were friendly and outgoing. Made you feel welcome and that they were very happy to have you as a guest. We had no problem with this property.

If you are looking for the Ritz stay in Mammoth, if you are looking for a great experience with a great staff and owner/Jessalyn. Make your plans to stay here

It is a home away from home.

Room Tip: Book a one bedroom with kitchen for 2-4 persons. Great value and views.

I have stayed at Boulder lodge several times since the early 1990s, including
with young children and family relatives.
The location is likely the best available in June lake with lake views, quiet rooms,
a pool and hot tub.

Unfortunately, the place remains very dated with no visible upgrades or renovations
done to rooms that look like they were last remodeled in the early 70s.
The pool was not heated, probably for lack of visitors this late in the season.
The main office has not changed one bit since my first visit in 1992.
No wifi available in the rooms, unless you are within reach of the office.

Room Tip: 2nd floor rooms have very nice lake views. 1st floor rooms have access to grassy area, lake and BBQ...

Expensive for what you get. Location is nice with cool view to Lake June(depends which side you stay). Room was freezing cold. There was couple degrees outside and almost same temperature inside the room. We used every blankets what we found and there was still cold. We stayed there one night at October and it was enough for us.

June Lake rustic charm. If you are 4 wheeling in the hills, mountain biking, skiing, fishing, hiking this is the place for you. Its a little old but its kept up very well. The rooms were very clean. You can walk about 75 yards and fish off there dock. They have a indoor pool, and hot tub. I was so pleased that the rooms were very warm. It was freezing at night. The desk staff were great and the trophy trout on the walls was really something. You can get a room overlooking the lake with a small kitchen. You can even get a separate cabin for a larger group.Dont expect hair conditioner or shampoo , but you do get soap. This is a great place for kids you dont have to worry about them banging something up.The room had a phone, coffee and again it was very clean with lots of hot water. We were Jeeping in the hills and we are planning on staying there next year.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the lake. What a great way to wake in the morning and seeing the lake. Rememb...

Don't expect a Hampton Inn. Do expect to look out your window in the morning and see a doe and her babies, a rabbit, stellar jays roaming the property. Do take time to enjoy June Lake right on the property. Use this very, very rustic basic lodging for a base to visit an incredible area. We had a kitchen so saved lots of money eating in. The owners are wonderful. The night before our group of 13 was to arrive for a 6 night stay in Yosemites Curry Village we learned of 2 deaths from possible Hantavirus. We called Nancy at Boulder Lodge after 8pm and she worked with us to arrange lodging at a price less than we paid at Curry Village. At Curry Village we had to walk to bathrooms and line up for showers and of course no kitchens. Compared to those accommodations we felt we were in plush accommodations.

Room Tip: Yes do ask to see your room. They differ. Some are a bit more modern than others.

I have been going to the June Lake area for over 60 years. For many of those I have thought about staying at Boulder Lodge. This month we finally made the decision to spend 9 days as part of our vacation there and we are sure glad we did. The Lodge is older but very comfortable and extremely clean. In addition, the staff is courteous and friendly. We are looking forward to staying at Boulder Lodge again next year. Over the years we have always camped or RV'd. Now when we are in our favorite fishing area we will stay at Boulder.

Room Tip: Any room is good. However, make sure you get one overlooking the lake.
