It is kind of difficult to assign a rating to this place, it has such wide swings between the good and the bad. We arrived with no reservations after being referred from a hotel closer to the Tioga Pass entrance to Yosemite (they only had single rooms). The front desk was very helpful, we had a party of 5, so it's difficult to find a single room that fits. They took the time to show us 3 rooms. They had kitchenettes with separate bedrooms, with a lake view, so we took 1 for 2 nights. The rates were a little high - $200/nt. My initial thought was this is not exorbitant for a large room, but unfortunately the rooms were quite dated. think of an older type motel that caters mostly to fishermen, and you'll get the idea. In the light of day, we cleaned up spider webs in the corner of the bathroom, and found out the balcony railing on the porch was about to fall off. They requested a $50 deposit for kitchen cleaning, and we did not use the kitchen facilities. When I checked out, I was asked if I had cleaned all the dishes - I said we did not use any, there were a couple of glasses we rinsed out and left in the sink. I was then grilled on why I didn't use the dish soap to wash the dishes. Again, I could rate this "average", but the lack of value and the checkout scare made me lean toward poor.
It's a shame, because their location is very nice - we had a great view of the lake, and were amazed at the the view of the stars from our balcony (just don't go too close to the edge!). If it was me and a few of my fishing buddies, I would go there in a heartbeat, but with a family that is used to the chain amenities, they were a little disappointed.More
