“Adequate, just about”
Reviewed July 20, 2011

Stayed here for one night on our way from Virginia City to Las Vegas. Stayed for nostalgic reasons due to a past visit many years previous. This was a cottage style property situated so close to other similar properties that curtains had to be kept closed and every word everyone else said could be heard. The cottages themselves were very outdated and old fashioned but spacious and in fairness, very clean with good enough facilities (small living and eating area and kitchen). For someone staying a week in a good location for June Lake, who wanted to cook in they would be ideal. For our overnight stay they were just ok. There was an indoor hottub. I have to confess, I dont think i would rush back, but it served its purpose for one night!

A great place to take the family for a great price. I think we may make it a new winter tradition.

My family and I have come to June Lake annually for more than 25 years and we have always stayed at the Haven. As my son says, "It's a family tradition." The Haven is located in the June Lake Village and is within walking distance from restaurants, grocery store, shops, pottery shop, coffee shop, and the greatest candy store one can imagine (Cathy's Candy). The Haven is rustic, very clean, comfortable and really neat. The decorations in the units are unique and really cool. The owners are incredibly helpful and knowledgable about the surrounding area and things to see and do. The views from the Haven's patio or deck are incredible. The spa is always available for use and if your respectful of other guests, sometimes you can even use the spa after hours (be nice when you ask to use the spa after the spa closing hours, however). The Haven also has a massage unit for those who want to merely relax and be treated like kings and queens. If you are interested in the area's history or stories about the area, just ask the owners husband. The owners are very accommodating to their guests. If you need more towels, clean linen, or TP, just ask. Another example of how well the owners care about their quests is that most units have their own wood burning fireplace and although the signs in the units say to furnish your own firewood, the owners always place wood logs at the front doors of the units for use. And if you run out, "just ask and you shall receive" (be mindful and courteous when asking). The owners are real cool. During the fishing season, If you plan to fish at June Lake, just tell the cashier at the June Lake Marina that you're staying at the Haven and you should receive a discount on your boat rental. The Haven also has it's own fish cleaning station so if the marina fish cleaning station is crowded, take you catch back to the Haven which is walking distance from the marina. I failed to mention that the Haven is within minutes and walking distance to June Lake as well as Gull Lake. Whatever your vacation plans are, if your in June Lake, stop by and check out the Haven. It's a great place to stay and it's units have lots of history from the area.

Our family has been coming to June Lake for about 10 years now. The only place we stay is at the Haven. We come during the ski season, and we come during the fishing season too. It is our "home away from home". Having a kitchen is very helpful especially with little kids. The cottages are so charming. They are uniquely decorated. Just like a country store. I especially like the fact that they are always very clean. The owners are always very helpful. If we need anything all we have to do is ask. Ask them where the good eating places are, you will be surprise where they send you.

The Haven is one the of most charming, clean and comfy places to stay in June Lake. I love the way each room is decorated makes me feel like I'm at home. My family has been coming to June Lake for years and we enjoy staying at the Haven the most. It's not your average generic hotel. Each little cottage has so much charm and personality and has a fully equipped kitchen - which is so helpful when traveling with the family. Having a kitchen gives you more options and freedom - I like that. The owners are the sweetest and most helpful people you could ever meet. The common areas like the deck with BBQ and nice garden in the court yard are just so inviting. The hot tub is just great after a long hike or a good day skiing. Most enjoyable are the spa services offered - best message I've ever had. So if your looking for a great mountain experience any time of year and want a cozy sweet place to stay - not to mention best value in June Lake - you should check out the Haven

We just spent the week at The Haven in Junelake, Ca. It is a lovely place for a trip for two or for the family. Their units have kitchens, tv's and the bathrooms have showers and some units have fireplaces. Their location is walking distance between June Lake and Gull Lake plus just being down the street from town. They have a spa and a beautiful deck to sit and watch the eagles, gulls and ospry's flying while you BBQ your dinner on their outdoor grill. Their units are very comfortably furnished, including everything in their kitchens, all you need to bring is your food. Their rates are very affordable which, in this economy, makes it easy to bring the family and truly enjoy all that the town of Junelake has to offer. We have been staying there for 10 years and look forward to many more visits with them.

The web site for this hotel is misleading. Photos of The Haven make it look like an upscale establishment. We stayed here in early August and were shocked to find our cottage in total disrepair. The worst was the beds which were "ticking stripe" mattresses (from the 40's?) on something that was not even a box spring. Windows were very old aluminum sliders that didn't slide, electrical outlets didn't work (you had to unplug the lamp to turn it off), furniture was shabby and torn. The wand to adjust the mini blinds was broken off. Exterior of the buildings needed painting. The two bedrooms were upstairs, the bathroom was downstairs, which was inconvenient. If you want a decent night's sleep, don't stay here. Photos on the website were expertly staged, don't be fooled.
