“Wonderful surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2014

While on business trip in San Diego decided to take a tour in the mountains and arrived at Julian Main St at lunch time. We were delighted by the Main St's looks and atmosphere and decided to try Carmen's Place because its welcoming appearance. We were even more pleased when we got in, very polite and friendly, fast service. Good homemade style atmosphere. Mexican salad bowl was so good made out of good and fresh ingredients - and the home made rice milk/cinnamon juice was also excellent. So the combination of little town feeling, friendly service, intimate surroundings and good food left us so satisfied and happy : )

Very good authentic Mexican food, you won't be disappointed. Big portions with plenty of flavor. Very nice and polite servers. First time eating there and definitely will be back. Nice patio to enjoy an ice cold beer or soda.

“YUMMY !!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2014

Stopped in to this restaurant after a day of checking out Julian. Great little restaurant in a cute setting. Very nice menu with lots of choices. The food was amazing. I had the fish tacos, with beans and rice, and they were VERY good. My husband had the chimichanga, and loved it. My daughter had enchiladas with mole sauce, she wanted to try something she never ate before, and she loved that too. Everyone was very pleased with everything they ordered. Big portions also, I couldn't finish my plate. The margaritas are made with wine instead of tequila, and they said they really weren't strong with alcohol, but they were only $4 each, so there you go. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Good service too, with friendly people. Oh, and you can bring your dog and sit outside on the patio.
