Every year, we try to do an annual pilgrimage to Julian, California, a small former mining town in the foothills of the mountains east of San Diego. Our restaurant of choice the last several times has been the Julian Grille, built in a charming old house with a lovely garden and enclosed outdoor seating area. Some weekends there is a wait for a table, and the wait is worth it, but today on Columbus Day we got seated immediately. The service was good and friendly and the food was delightful, with quite a varied menu. I had the tuna melt with swiss on rye, along with squash soup and wine, and another of us had the sweet and sour chicken. A great place for a splendid meal!

We decided to go to the Julian Grille on our last evening in Julian. It is a lovely restaurant built in an old home. We dined in the enclosed porch area. Our meals were perfectly prepared, and we thoroughly enjoyed them - Chicken Fettucine for me and Prime Rib for my husband. A very lovely setting and the service was excellent.

We went here for dinner and had a good experience. Food is good, staff is excellent, ambiance is very pleasant. We ate indoors, but would return to eat outdoors as well. We will return on our next visit.

We went for a nice two day motorcycle trip and ended our first night here in Julian CA
What a nice quit town. We stayed at the Julian Country Inn and they recommended the “Julian Grille”… what a perfect suggestion.
They restaurant had a very nice outside seating area, with a little fire pit and water garden.
With a full bar and a good wine section, we start with a drink.
Great dinner selection and the portions were nice and big!
We finished it off with their homemade apple pie! BTW: this place is known for their apple
Wonderful – we loved very bit… of course, we realized we should have taken a picture of dessert before we eat it all. All the more reason, you should go there and try it yourself
Look forward to having dinner here again

PS: they do have a kids menu and there outside seating is pet friendly
