We have been eating here for over ten years. Ownership changed hands in early 2013. The menu is completely different from the past. We enjoyed our last three visits. Hint...you can bring your own beer and wine with no corkage charge. My filet special was very good. Crusted blue cheese topping over garlic mash and perfect long green beans. I say it is a work in progress because the area is still challenged with visitors. I sincerely hope they can survive and build a regular clientele among visitors and residents alike.

12 of us a motorcycle ride from San Juan Capistrano ate here today ---- and must say that I am shocked at the previous review (riverpoor). We made reservations for the balcony --- arrived a little late --- yet our table for 12 on the balcony was awaiting ---- with a very pleasant greeting from the staff. The main dining area is simply decorated --- yet features large picture windows for viewing the lake. The balcony is fantastic, shaded and even better views.

Service was excellent with requests for changes readily taken. Though breakfast was not available during lunch ---- the selection of burgers and sandwiches was excellent to include a variety of hot and cold entrees. Beer or wine are not currently available --- yet we understand that the license will be approved soon.

In summary, clean neat, very friendly, simple, and good quality food with ample variety. We have eaten at nearly every restaurant in Julian several times and would rate this casual lunch venue as one of the best ---- and well worth the 9 mi drive on the beautiful Sunrise Hwy (Rt 79).

In contrast to the Riverpoor review --- we ordered ~~ $162. of food .... and not a morsel remaining when we left.

I used to live and work in the area and the food was never better than average. We decided to take a drive and stopped by for breakfast because the location is so nice. The food was absolutely horrendous. We left almost $40 worth of food on the table when we left because it was so bad. I don't know how in the world someone could screw up scrambled eggs and pancakes so bad, but they did. The other meals were cold and greasy. Now the good part. It's a beautiful setting overlooking Cuyamaca Lake. Do yourself a favor and pack a lunch and enjoy the view from one of the many picnic tables available.
