We have been going to William Heise Park for over 10 years now. We go during the week, not weekends, and even in the summer we are one of about 3 tent campers. The park is yours. Love the little trails around the park. We usually hike one each morning before breakfast. The Desert View has many steep climbs to it. Don't bring a baby carriage as I ready someone did. The view is magnificent. It is interesting to see the fire damage from the 2003 fire and how it has repaired itself. Trees are growing again along with the sage brush, etc. The restrooms are keep clean considering it is a campground. Nice to have a hot shower. The Rangers strictly enforce quiet time and fires are out by 11PM. Some people have complained about it but that is the reason it is so peaceful. Julian is only 5 miles away which is a quick ride for ice or a malt at the local soda shop. They are maintaining the park with new wooden fences and have repaired the road. We love it!
