We are last minute adventurers with our kids and have no idea where we will wind up...(New Years No Less) long story short we got a room (total last minute) from a lovely lady named Linda (?) at Tucker Peak Lodge. What a pleasant experience from beginning to end. Lovely large CLEAN room with an outstanding view, quiet and great coffee and conversation. Everything was unexpectedly lovely. Thank you Tucker Peak Lodge, we will be back!

Tucker Peak was the perfect place for my family. Most places in Julian don't allow children and it was hard to find a big enough place. I could have not asked for a better place. We stayed in the main lodge upstairs and had 2 bedrooms with a small loft that my daughters loved. In the large common room we ate pie, had hot tea, watched a DVD on the large screen, played a board game, and had a fire in the rock fireplace. We also played a game of pool. It was such an enjoyable night and our hostess was so friendly and hospitable that we felt like family. Out on the large deck the stars above were breathtaking. I've traveled to 46 states and 25 countries and this is one of the best places I've ever stayed and we will definitely be back. The decor, antiques, sitting chairs made the place even more special. The sparkling cider and cookies was a nice touch in our room. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: I recommend the rooms in main lodge if it is available.

Tuckers Peak Lodge was as cozy as we had imagined with an amazing view of the mountain ridge. The room was small yet comfortable enough for my daughter and I plus our two little pups. For added convenience, you can pre order logs for the fireplace and the best apple pie to take home with you.
Our only regret was that we could only stay one night.

I booked a reservation at Tucker Peak, stayed, and couldnt be happier!! My girlfriend came here from Mexico to visit and wanted to see Julian. We arrived and the stay was wonderful!! One of the mornings, we were out on the large patio that overlooks the valley and an eagle came and joined us for the spectacular view. The hospitality was amazing and was really close to downtown Julian for dinners and gift buying. Reccommend highly, will definately stay there again!!

Room Tip: The rooms with the jacuzzi tubs are awsome!

To begin with, we arrived in Julian a bit before 3:00 pm and went to Tucker's Treasures to check in as instructed (on Main Street in Julian). Be warned they don't take credit or debit cards so you need cash or a check- what centrury is this? (They said they don't have the "signal" consistently to process credit card transactions....yeah right, it's all done with hard wire....they just don't want to pay the credit card companies processing fees that typically are around 2% of the total transaction amount). Anyway, we paid for our room in cash ($161 with fees and tax) and was told that the innkeeper would not arrive at the property until 4:00 so we could not get our room key until then. Really? That was a bit disappointing, but we thought we'd just relax in the lobby for an hour or so, so we drove out to the property to wait for the Innkeeper. Nope. We went to the property and found it was all locked up. Not a soul in site. Again.....really? You must be kidding me? So we went back to town and hung around for an hour. Not a good way to start our romantic getaway weekend.

Went back to the property a bit after four and were shown to the Rosewood "suite". OMG this room was approximately 200 square feet at best (Motel 6 rooms and Cruise cabins are way larger), and you could not even see outside....there were a few very small windows that were all covered with non-retractable coverings, which further made us feel locked into a walk in closet. The sheets were gross and stained yellow/brown, the linens, floors and decor was worn, dated and dirty. There wasn't even room or a place to open your suitcase if you wanted to live out of that for the time you are there. There was one old dirty wicker rocker and one child-size wooden rocker so two adults could not even sit comfortably in the room.

And if your idea of performing bodly functions with near zero privacy is your idea of romantic, you are in luck. There is no real door to seperate the bed from the the toilet/shower (we had no tub in our room). There was only a "saloon" style swinging door leading into the tiny bathroom.

I felt so gross I would not even remove my jacket, and though my husband tried to make things better by lighting a Duraflame log and lighting some candles (that we brought from home), you can't polish a turd, so, after 15 minutes we packed up and headed home. What a collosal waste of money.

In summary, this place was gross, so gross we left after being there just a short while knowing full well we would not get our money back, and had no means to dispute the "charge" because they required cash or check. We have stayed at hundreds of hotels all over California, and this place was, by far, the worst experience we've ever had. Have you ever paid for a room and left it after 15 minutes because it was so substandard? Welcome to the Tucker Peak. Enjoy your stay.

My fiance and I needed a quiet getaway and knew the only place to go would be Tucker Peak! This was our second visit and it was even better this time around. We stayed 2 nights,3 days this time and it was so relaxing and enjoyable. The Innkeeper was so accommodating, friendly and seemed to go out of her way to make sure our stay was memorable. (which it was!) We stayed in the Rosewood Suite which is the middle room. It is small but gorgeous! It has a fireplace, queen sized bed, private bath and it's own entrance with a cute swing to look out at the beautiful views in front of you. We will be coming here for our quiet getaways every time! P.S... The best place to eat for breakfast is The Julian Cafe and bakery!!! You do need to go early because the cafe is tiny and possibly claustrophobic for some, but I didn't have a problem with that. The food is homemade, LARGE portions and is down home cooking at it's finest!

My husband and I had a wonderful 2 day 1 night getaway to Julian before the holidays take flight. A perfect spot to relax, cuddle, enjoy peace and quiet and gaze at the beautiful scenery. The hostess was a sweetheart and very eager to make your stay perfect. A great find, we will be back soon. Lunch or dinner tip - Jeremy's On The Hill, outstanding!
