After a long day of hiking in Joshua Tree National Park, we were happy to check in to the Joshua Tree Inn and take a load off. We stayed in the Emmylou Harris room. It has recently been updated, with fresh paint and new furniture. The new bed was fantastic, and we slept like babies.

The courtyard is dreamy at night. During our visit, the wisteria that envelopes the walkway to all of the rooms was in bloom. It smelled great. The moon was almost full, the air was crisp, the lighting made it easy to move around without taking away too much from the stars above.

We only stayed one night because we were moving on. I hope the next time I'm out that way, I can stay for a few nights and recharge.

My husband picked this place, being a fan of history. Like others who've posted here have said, the Joshua Tree Inn is a little more expensive than your normal chain hotel. Most places we stay at are just a place to sleep, but this has a fire pit area, pool, sculptures, and a very nice vibe. It would have been nice to sit around the fire and meet the other residents, but the first night we were too tired, and the second, it was too rainy.

If I remember correctly, we had room four. The concrete walls and tile floor are softened by the living room like chairs and a huge sleigh bed. We used the in-wall heater when we were there in December, but didn't get to use our own personal back patio.

This was our favorite place to stay on our trip and would recommend it if you're interested in a community feel rather than just a place to sleep.

The Joshua Tree Inn was a real highlight of our vacation. Gorgeous courtyard and pool. Excellent service, even when checking in after hours. The rooms were very unique, the shower was great. Each room had a private sitting area out back. Really fun!

Been there a couple times over the years. Comfortable bed. Great view from the pleasant courtyard. Pleasant staff. And a very unique spot. But, the bathrooms are still tiny, the walls are still cinderblock, the 'private outdoor patio' is barely that and the rooms are still dim. A decent night of sleep, in a decent place, for a vary fair price, not much more.

Interesting history. Friendly reception guy. Very mellow courtyard. We did not sleep well. Many knocking on doors in the night, but no one seemed to be there. Infrastructure (wiring, sprinklers) very modern. A bit overpriced.

Room Tip: I would avoid the Gram Parsons room unless you enjoy staying where someone died.

While just a bit more expensive than I would have liked, I booked the Turtle Cabin for the weekend before New Years Eve. By the time we got there all of the hotel rooms in Joshua Tree were sold out. The cabin was 3.5 miles off Twenty-nine Palms drive, up Park road. The dining room window opened up to a shared patio (with one other cabin) and into the sunrise and the park mountains. The property had hammocks and a swimming pool (for summer). Absolutely lovely.

I loved this place. Even though it was slightly expensive, it was really centrally located and I just thought it was so charming and beautiful. There's a beautiful outside area with sculptures and tables to sit at, and I wish I had time to stay longer and take more photographs of the grounds. The room was small, but it was comfortable. I would recommend this to anyone who can afford a step up from a motel (I usually can't, but splurged in this case.) It has a really unique charm.
