First of all, thanks to Margie for being so cool about the way she handled the mix-up in our reservation: I booked for two nights in June when I thought I had booked for two nights in July and, on the day she thought we should already have arrived, she called me and agreed to change our reservation without penalty.
We were one of only two couples at the hide-a-way, so our visit was quiet and relaxing. We had a room with a private patio (complete with dinner table and chairs), but there’s also a nice picnic area with a gas barbeque (unfortunately, no propane left and even the extra tank was empty when we were there) and a small wood barbeque (that we were able to use). The grounds are beautiful, with cacti and other plants all around.
The rooms are colorfully decorated with a good selection of DVDs and CDs and I really appreciated the reading lamps over the bed.
On the down side, there was no maid service, and I wonder if this might not have been because Spin and Margie were away, with someone else looking after the property for them. It wasn’t a big deal since we only stayed two nights, although it would have been nice to have clean towels and have someone remove the waste.
This is a great location if you want to drive to Joshua Tree Park, and it’s also close to the small village of Joshua Tree where you can get food and drinks.
