Spin and Margie's Desert Hideaway

When you drive into Spin & Margie's, you are welcomed with vintage Route 66 signage, old license plates, barrels and cactus, and a "WELCOME" sign that makes you feel like you are! Try and arrive during the day so you can really enjoy the ambience in those first few moments. Plus, you might miss the turnoff in the desert darkness. We stayed in the smallest of the five suites, #2, but it was perfect for what we wanted ...a two-night desert getaway, with a day trip to Joshua Tree. We cooked all our meals on the two burners in the kitchenette and the refrigerator holds much more than it looks like it would. Bedroom is spacious and decor is too much fun. Just let yourself enjoy it. We loved the fountain on the patio outside our door. This is the ideal place for a small family reunion, as you can rent all five suites, complete with bacci ball, horseshoes, an outdoor BBQ area, and lots of outdoor space to roam around. We were so happy to meet Margie, who took our photo at the car sign. Waaaaaaaaaay cool. We'll be back for sure.

Spin and Margie's was beautiful. It is decorated with such care, and it is clean, pretty, and a fun place to spend a few days. I came for a week and stayed in the cabin, and ended up staying an extra night because it was so relaxing. The hosts are kind people who care a lot about your comfort. I would stay here again in an instant.

Stayed in room 3, which was brilliant.

There was plenty of space in the room, which included a kitchen. There was also a private terrace to sit on during the day when it was too busy to explore the national park.

Due to the elevation above sea level it can get windy, which can create some noise.

The gardens are nice and a lot of effort has been put into decorating the rooms.

Joshua Tree national park is a great place to visit and this hotel is a good place to use as a base for exploring it.

We stayed in Suite #1. The Suite was spacious, comfortable and clean, with some very cute and unique decor. I am very happy we stayed here rather than any of the motels in town. The unit had a full kitchen and was fully stocked with kitchenware. There is some noise from the cars passing on the highway, but I imagine it would be worse at other places that are directly on the highway. At least this place was set back a little from the road. The shower was also a little small, but probably not a big deal for most people. The proprietor stopped by to introduce herself and she was very nice. Unfortunately we were there during the government shutdown, but we still managed to visit a little portion of Joshua Tree National Park and also had enjoyed taking the Palm Springs Tram up to Mr. San Jacinto for an afternoon hike.

This was our first trip to Joshua Tree and Spin and Margie's. The guest cabin we stayed in was lovely - great decor, everything you could need including a map of the area, places to visit, wifi...even a torch! We had a fantastic stay, and our host was so kind and accommodating. Not only did she phone the fabulous Pappy and Harriet's for information on an event for us, but also booked a massage for me (which was incredible!).
The location is perfectly secluded and private, and very quiet. Super close to loads of great eateries and things to do, and we are desperate to come back again soon. Thanks again for a great stay.

This was our second visit to Spin and Margie's. We stayed in the Desert Rambler, one of three suites that has a private courtyard. This time, we brought our food, wine, and cocktail supplies with us and enjoyed the quiet, secluded retreat we were looking for. We'll be back again for a longer stay.

This place is awesome. There are 5 guest cabins you can stay in, each decorated in a sort of Santa Fe chic. Outside, the landscaping is more Far West. There is a little communal courtyard where you can bbq or make a campfire. You're between the East and West Entrances of Joshua Tree but not far from restaurants and stores as well. A real jewel in the desert.
