Description: The epicenter of Sonoma Coast dining...the River's End is located in the quaint village of Jenner by the Sea about 20 minutes north of Bodega Bay. The restaurant is set on a bluff overlooking the Russian River spill into the Pacific Ocean. During lunch you can watch the Osprey dive in the river for fish or the harbor seals frolic at riverside. Dinner time is all about the sunset - the show is worth the visit. Fortunately, the restaurant chefs and service staff aim to outdo the natural surroundings. The kitchen prepares California cuisine with a focus on local ingredients. Chef Martin Recoder prepares menus that are changing with the seasons and delight the heart. The service staff is led by Maitre d'/Owner Bert Rangel, who has owned and managed the restaurant for over 10 years. The Chef in the Redwood Bar is talented Patrick Keane. Trained at the French Culinary Institute, Patrick utilizes the freshest ingredients and classic techniques to create truly "Artisanal Cocktails".

Coming in and given the unassuming exterior, we were a bit unsure about what to expect. What a nice surprise! The food was great and the service super friendly.
Like other reviewers, I recommend making a reservation. Also get there early because parking near the entrance is tight.

Especially oysters. Romantic, exquisitely located, accompanied by cabins for overnight enjoyment. Very friendly bar to absorb a worthwhile wait for a table. Wonderful views at lunch. Easy access. Gratefully quiet.

The food was awesome, the views breath-taking, the service outstanding, and the wine affordable! I will definitely come back and stay in their hotel again.

Stopped in without a reservation. Not advisable. We were served at the bar and the bartender gave great service. The food was so good. We had oysters on the half shell that were fantastic. The mignonette served with them was the best I've ever had. Also did some ceviche an heirloom tomato salad, some salmon chowder. WOW.... What a find. Will go again....

We stopped here to regroup after the white-knuckle drive from Fort Ross to Jenner on 1, and overall, it was a good experience. The menu is not innovative (it's got the time-worn goat cheese and beet tower salad, for example), but even though the dishes aren't creative, they are all very tasty and very well-executed. Service was fine - took a bit of time for water glass refilling, but everyone was friendly. The important thing is it's a relaxing dining experience -- much-needed for those of us tackling south-bound 1!
