Description: The epicenter of Sonoma Coast dining...the River's End is located in the quaint village of Jenner by the Sea about 20 minutes north of Bodega Bay. The restaurant is set on a bluff overlooking the Russian River spill into the Pacific Ocean. During lunch you can watch the Osprey dive in the river for fish or the harbor seals frolic at riverside. Dinner time is all about the sunset - the show is worth the visit. Fortunately, the restaurant chefs and service staff aim to outdo the natural surroundings. The kitchen prepares California cuisine with a focus on local ingredients. Chef Martin Recoder prepares menus that are changing with the seasons and delight the heart. The service staff is led by Maitre d'/Owner Bert Rangel, who has owned and managed the restaurant for over 10 years. The Chef in the Redwood Bar is talented Patrick Keane. Trained at the French Culinary Institute, Patrick utilizes the freshest ingredients and classic techniques to create truly "Artisanal Cocktails".

“Fantastic View & Dining”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

We spent our 35th Anniversary by having dinner at this remarkable restaurant. By far one of the better meals I've had in a long time. Presentation of food was exquisite. Couldn't have asked for a nicer anniversary with phenomenal food, service and the view of the sunset was quite memorable. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to Jenner.

“Best restaurant on the Sonoma coast”
Reviewed May 27, 2014

While driving the Sonoma coast on a gorgeous, clear & warm day, we decided to stop at our favorite restaurant in the area and have a nice late lunch at River's End in Jenner. Seated immediately, we were served by long time employee – Evan. After a couple of drinks we started with the fresh & delicious Ceviche served with homemade tortilla chips. Excellent, could have had a meal of this!! Our entrees were fresh seared ahi on a bed of coconut jasmine rice and the duck confit sandwich with sweet potato fries. Only complaint…. the duck confit was not an entrée but a sandwich as we’ve had in the past. Maybe next time. Wonderful food, service, drinks located at the best spot on the Sonoma coast.

“An excellent meal - pity about the fog!”
Reviewed May 25, 2014 via mobile

Booked a table to, we hoped, watch the sun set whilst enjoying out dinner. Unfortunately we had not accounted for the local weather and arrived to find the area swathed in fog!

The meat, however, was excellent. We sampled both of the salmon specials and each was an excellent meal with the fish cooked to perfection and great flavours in 2 very different styles. Would definitely recommend, but don't count on the weather playing ball....

“OUTSTANDING Food and Views”
Reviewed May 21, 2014

Our party of six stumbled across this wonderful dining mecca on a day trip from wine country and could not have been happier we did. We enjoyed a fantastic late afternoon lunch with a breath taking view of the Pacific and delightful, well trained service. The salmon chowder was superb as were all the entrees. The duck sandwich and white prawn pasta were both creative and surpassed expectations. The wine list was very good too. I can not wait to return.

“Who knew???”
Reviewed May 8, 2014

For years we have buzzed on by this restaurant on the way up the coast, although the parking lot always seems full. Finally, we decided to give it a try and WOW. We were amazed at the quality of the food and its presentation. We stopped for lunch with no reservation and were greeted warmly and seated in the solarium room...all the better to enjoy the fabulous view. There were seals hauled up on the beach, osprey diving and the glorious Pacific below us, as we dined.

The service was excellent...not too intrusive, but spot on when needed. We were a party of four and I had the asparagus soup, which was lovely silkiness and a warm orzo salad, with spring greens, butternut squash, zucchini and fennel, tossed in a fabulous citrus vinaigrette...beautiful to look at and delicious to eat! My husband had fish and chips, which he regarded as extra yummy...crisp, not greasy. Our companions shared a lamb burger...one of the best they'd had.

We will definitely be back! It would be the best ever at sunset, I would think, and I'd like to be there!! It's not far from Bodega Bay (about 20 minutes), if you're up there, and is on the way to The Sea Ranch. It's not inexpensive, but for the quality of the food, well worth it. The north coast surely could take lessons here...the best food we had for an entire week at The Sea Ranch. Now we know why the parking lot is always full! Very impressive!!!
