Description: The epicenter of Sonoma Coast dining...the River's End is located in the quaint village of Jenner by the Sea about 20 minutes north of Bodega Bay. The restaurant is set on a bluff overlooking the Russian River spill into the Pacific Ocean. During lunch you can watch the Osprey dive in the river for fish or the harbor seals frolic at riverside. Dinner time is all about the sunset - the show is worth the visit. Fortunately, the restaurant chefs and service staff aim to outdo the natural surroundings. The kitchen prepares California cuisine with a focus on local ingredients. Chef Martin Recoder prepares menus that are changing with the seasons and delight the heart. The service staff is led by Maitre d'/Owner Bert Rangel, who has owned and managed the restaurant for over 10 years. The Chef in the Redwood Bar is talented Patrick Keane. Trained at the French Culinary Institute, Patrick utilizes the freshest ingredients and classic techniques to create truly "Artisanal Cocktails".

We came here for lunch on our way to Fort Ross. We were with our friends, a European couple who were visiting California. The food was average as was the service. Our friends asked for espressos with their dessert and were told by the waiter that the restaurant was too small to have an espresso machine. Really? I have one in my small kitchen at home.
The reason to dine here is for the view - lovely.

Not bad nice location.
Thursday night is local night but you have to ask for special menu.
Long curvy drive from Bodeaga Bay.

Rivers End is such a gem to have on the North Coast. It is by far the best place to watch the sunset in the Bodega Bay/Jenner area – if you like to see waves crashing on the beach and hear seals barking in the distance that is. Going out on the deck, feeling the cool ocean breeze, smelling the sea air, hearing the waves crashing and the seals barking is a healing balm to the senses, readying the palette for a wonderful array of tastes and textures. The food is original but not fussy, with inspired combinations and flavors. The oysters with tobiko and the ginger-lime mignonette are wonderful, except now I don’t want to have oysters anywhere else. The white sea bass was perfectly prepared and had a flawlessly balanced sauce of pomegranates and beets. Even the swiss chard was so perfectly prepared, not wilted but firm and delicious. The prices are a little higher than the restaurants in the area, however the food is locally sourced and much of it is organic. The service is flawless – friendly but not intrusive for that special occasion or just a quiet date. It remains our top choice for a beautiful dinner date on the coast.

Had a lovely meal here after a sunset drink - definitely get reservations asap (we had to eat fairly late), dinner starts at 5pm and reservations were already filling up. Grab a drink and get on the patio for sunsets and crashing waves!

My boss came out to Wine Country from Minnesota and warmly recalled having dinner here a few years ago. The drive to the coast is just spectacular late in the day, even in Winter. It was a Thursday so even though we made a reservation on Open Table, there was plenty of tables. We had the pork with apples and a pasta dish. Two other colleagues joined us and they had beef. The corkage fee is $20- a bit high. Solid service. Terrific menu. Desserts are tops! Try to get here if you can!
