I wasn't expecting too much based on the reviews I read and from the initial outward appearance of the Lodge, but ended up being pleasantly surprised. We ended up getting the last available room, which was in the row closest to the ocean. These rooms appear to be the largest and, based on the reviews, the nicest.
The room was nothing fancy, but fairly large, pleasantly laid out, and clean. There was a private hot tub on the deck, which was a very nice addition. There is also a fireplace, a TV, DVD player, a small table and chairs, and a grill, none of which we used during our short stay. The bed was king-sized and very comfortable.
Check in service was friendly and helpful. Minor complaints - the overhead light didn't seem to work, and the heater was little noisy -- kind of rattly, with occasional loud "pops" which might wake you up at night depending on how light a sleeper you are. I ended up shutting off the heater after being woken up once.
Our price was $229 per night, which sounds expensive, but is probably about the right price given the lack of options in the area, the large room, and the fact you have your own private hot tub. All in all, I went in not expecting much, but I'd definitely stay there again.More
