“Back for another visit!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2014

This anniversary trip we stayed in room 23 up on the hill. It has an in-room sauna and spa tub big enough for 2 people. We only used the sauna on the first night, it's a pretty intense experience for us folks not used to using one. We used the spa tub both nights. It was heavenly.
There is a charcoal Weber BBQ on the patio that we put to good use. They supply the charcoal and a chimney lighter. There is a fireplace in the room and they supply the wood for the first day. You can purchase a nice box of wood for $5 if you keep the fireplace stoked. But a nice calm fire really heats up the room quickly.
There is a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker in the room, centered in a nicely tiled bar area in the room. We brought everything we needed and barely left the room except to check in with other humans on one evening.
There is free WiFi throughout the complex but don't try to run Facetime or Skype. And don't expect to have any phone service out there. I was able to email easily when we needed to check in with our housesitter.
We went up the road to Ocean Cove and had some cocktails one evening. The seating for the bar looks out on the ocean, the servers were friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. We ate breakfast there on our way back home. A very basic breakfast menu on Sunday from 9am to noon. Omelets, french toast, scrambles and such.

It is our goal to offer our guests all the comforts of home and and we are glad that you were able to relax during your stay with us. We are happy to hear that you were able to use our amenities and to stay connected to those at home. We are still fine tuning our WiFi, but our service is very limited at the moment. See you soon!!

The Fort Ross Lodge in Jenner was a delightful, quiet haven for a relaxing beachfront stay. Although there was significant road construction underway on Highway 1, the driving delays were the only drawback and presumably they will not last forever. The rooms on the Hill were out-of-the way (which I enjoy), very clean and there was excellent wifi - which was hardly even used given the beautiful views, woodsy surrounding and in-room fireplace. The owners were pleasant and helpful and the service was flawless. The Lodge was not far from some lovely wineries, State parks, historical sights and beach views. For someone who needs some time away from the bustle, this was a wonderful retreat!

Room Tip: I prefer the Hill rooms - a bit of a hike from the main lodge, but the quiet was exquisite!

This was our 3rd or 4th stay At Fort Ross Lodge and it was Wonderful. The room is spacious and the little table is great for cozy meal/snack anytime of day. Patio with hot tub is GREAT for star gazing on clear nights or coffee in morning. If you remain quiet when on patio it is amazing how close the wildlife will come.

Booked here after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. Left Eureka, Ca in the morning on motorcycles and had a leisurely trip down Hwy 1 to Fort Ross Lodge.

This area is just beautiful and the Lodge is situated on the coast side with gorgeous views of the ocean and walking paths to the cliffs with lots of deer. There is a convenience store across the street for sodas and food but it does close at 6 PM.

We stayed in Room 15 with an outside hot tub (wonderful after a long ride) overlooking the scenery. The room was very comfortable with a great bed and pillows, a fireplace inside and 2 nice casual chairs. It was soooo quiet and peaceful, that I truly wished we were staying another day. :-).

You are off the grid here, no cell phone service and you need to go to the pool area to use wifi, but honestly it was great to be disconnected for a night. We didn't try the wifi so I can't comment on that.

We dined at Alexander's Restaurant, about a mile north of the Lodge at Timber Cove Inn on the recommendation of the Lodge (more upscale dining) and it was good.

Our experience at Fort Ross Lodge was so pleasant, we are planning a return trip.

I'd give the lodge 5 stars if it had a restaurant within walking distance. Very nice, spacious rooms. Incredible views of the Pacific. Flowers everywhere. Nice patio for each room. The rooms have a little kitchen area, a dining area, and a large bathroom.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Fort Ross Lodge. We stayed on the Hill which had a great view of the coast. Our room was large and came with a very comfortable bed. We also enjoyed the Jacuzzi tub in the room. There was a mini refrigerator, microwave and sink in the room. The property also provided coffee mugs, wine glasses, drinking glasses, a cutting board, cheese knife and a wine opener.

We used the BBQ on the patio, but needed to provide our own plates and utensils. The property provided charcoal, matches, a chimney charcoal starter and BBQ tools. We enjoyed our BBQ dinner on the small table and chairs on the patio overlooking the coast.

We also enjoyed the in room fire place (and appreciated the heat during the chilly evenings). The property provided ample firewood and a fire starter block to get things going.

The property is located about 20-30 minutes north of the small town of Jenner. There are great places to explore along the coast, but not much in terms of restaurants, stores and markets. There is a small market located across the highway 1. We did not have cell coverage at the property, but we did make use of the free WiFi.

Our only complaint was with the hot water in our unit. As others have mentioned, the hot water would last for a couple minutes and then go ice cold. It made for some quick showers.

All in all we really enjoyed our stay at the Fort Ross Lodge and would recommend it for those wishing to stay at a nice, quiet property.

This was our third stay, the second at 'The Hill'. We wised up this trip and brought food for the fridge, and to barbeque. Room 19 has a hot tub on the patio, and is in the kid-free building. (The screen door was finicky and slid off it's track.) Last time we came the Store did not have much selection, but there was a wide selection of food this time, and we picked up a few things. The rooms have glass glasses and real coffee mugs! The hot water in the shower went hot and cold. The Sonoma Coast has few hotels/motels, and we've stayed in most of them. This is a good place to just relax and watch the ocean and wildlife.

Room Tip: Look on the website property map, call, and ask about the specifics of your room. All views are grea...
