We have been to Dickie's several times. Sometimes the wait is slow due to the many customers who frequent the place. Very good BBQ food and nice atmosphere. Can't be seen from SR 49, so Landmark is Safeway shopping center. Enjoy!

This place is kind of hidden from the main road, but we happened to see it when we were leaving Safeway. Glad we did.

We were staying in the RV park at the Jackson Rancheria so decided to get a bunch of food to go. We like to "over-order" and then have leftovers for sandwiches or even another meal.

We ordered:
Beef brisket - delicious and not dry
Turkey breast - delicious
Chicken breast - fair, a little dry
Mac n Cheese - very good
Green beans - very good
Sausage - good
Baked potato casserole - disappointing, okay but very bland

We didn't notice any sides that were unique and although I don't remember exactly, they must have been out of the baked beans since we always order those with any BBQ meats.

We did pay tax on our "to go" order and I thought they didn't do that in California?

Everything was good and fairly reasonably priced. The turkey breast made wonderful sandwiches the next day! We'll most likely eat here again when we return to this area.

Wonderful food and great service!

We went there for a family birthday, and they gave the birthday boy a free piece of pecan pie! (Peach cobbler could be had instead.) They serve free soft serve vanilla ice cream with regular cake ice cream cones, when you purchase your meal from them. (No birthday needed for the ice cream.) Three in our party could not have the ice cream because of the guar gum in it, but the others who could have it liked it a lot.

Their menu mostly has a selection of meats, BBQ sauces, waffle fries, onion rings called 'tanglers', fried okra, rolls, and the biggest baked potatoes our family has ever seen. We ordered them with most of the fixings on them , like cheddar cheese, green onions, margerine, and sour cream. Ours came with the brisket meat, which has no MSG or gums added into it. The meat was full of flavor, tender, and moist. DELICIOUS! And best of all, no migraine afterwards!

My husband had the plate of shaved meat with BBQ sauce, (he's on the Atkins diet,) and found it to be tender and flavorful, and one of my kids had the BBQ ribs. My kid raved about the ribs. This surprised me, for this kid is a VERY picky eater and is quite hard to please. The rest of us had the huge baked potatoes with the brisket and fixings. We will DEFINITELY return again for more!!

All of the ingredients for their foods are listed on the Dickies web site, so it was easy for us to find a few things that did not have MSG or other ingredients that mimic it, such as Zantham gum and guar gum. We could have the onion tanglers as long as we told them not to put any seasoning on them.

There was a minor problem with the double charge for an order of onion tanglers, and this was quickly and happily corrected by the manager and owner of the store. (He was a nice man to chat with and was very pleasant.)

There is some outdoor tables in the general eating area out front of the entrance, which might be nice come summer time.

The ambiance inside gives a distinct country flair, with checkered table cloths and old classic rock and roll music playing in the back ground. There were several families there when we went for dinner (I think it was on a Thursday,) and there were plenty of high chairs for the little ones.

They really tried to please us, and were sensitive to our unique dietary needs. I can't praise this place enough!

The wait in line was incredible, I expected more. The problem is the amount of wasted time in creating your meal. The carver takes a piece of meat from a warming oven, upwraps the 2 layers of plastic wrap, cuts the meat for your plate, then rewraps with new plastic wrap. The waste is incredible. If the person behind you in line orders the same meat, it happens again. I just do not get it, there has to be a better way. The food is good, but, not good enough to wait in line that long. Also, only sodas and ice tea....cannot imagine BBQ without a beer. They do have a decent Children's menu and lots of menu selections, but, I just could not get beyond the plastic wrap waste.

Finally had a chance to check them out and have some bbq. We just finished the Parade of Lights in Sutter Creek and were cold and hungry. Sutter Creek was all filled up for dining so we headed up the hill to Dickie's since we all wanted some meat.

We were greeted warmly at the door, but found that some things were already sold out for the day. However, delicious substitutes were suggested and we indulged.

Bottom line, the meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful and plenty to squelch our appetites. Even my friend the vegetarian ended up with a chopped briquet sandwich and at it all!

The manager came out and checked on everybody eating and then as we left, we were thanked by the staff and urged to come back.

That we will!
