“Nice, historic...”

There's a lot of history in this property and their new remodel has maintained an historic feel. Our room was not overly spacious. Everything was fresh, clean and well maintained. Some street noise (mostly motorcycles) in the early evening but quiet at night. Too pricey for what it is.

The company I work for had our Christmas party at The National. Wow! They've done a wonderful job of renovating this hotel. Their restaurant was amazing too! Do yourself a favor and visit Jackson and stay at The National!

We stayed at The National Hotel on the second night of my birthday wine-tasting weekend. It was recommended by a co-worker of mine. The building is attractive, right at the end of the historic main street of town. As soon as you walk into the lobby, you can see the attention to detail in the recent remodel. The dark wood wainscoting helps to preserve the hotel's historic feel, and many of the walls are lined with black and white photographs depicting the town's and surrounding area's history. Noah at the front desk, was welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. He recommended several restaurants for dining, including Stanley's Steakhouse in the hotel. (Please see my separate review on Stanley's.) He directed us to our room on the third floor, and offered to help with our luggage. (We discovered later that the hotel elevator goes down to the ground floor side entrance, so you don't have to lug your bags up all the steps in front.) This room at the southeast corner of the hotel was very tastefully decorated, and had a small electric fireplace in one corner which provided some additional charm. The furnishings were nice, and reflected the hotel's history with a large armoire and plenty of drawer space in the dresser. The bed was super comfortable with high quality bedding. The bathroom was spacious, and the towels fluffy and huge. Our room was quiet, and the air conditioning wasn't obtrusive. Everything was very clean. Parking is in the garage under the nearby Civic Center, which was nice, as it kept our recently purchased wines much cooler. The morning staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating, and the breakfast (included), although it had very limited selections, featured a homemade granola which was delicious. The friendly front desk manager checked us out, and he also offered to help with our luggage. (As it turns out, he is good friends with Pete at the Imperial Hotel in Amador City, where we stayed the previous night.) This is a great place to stay if you're touring the Gold Country, and would make a very comfortable base for visits to nearby historic towns and Amador County's wineries. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was our experience at the Steakhouse. Otherwise, highly recommended!

My wife and I were attending a party at one of the local ranches for a charity event. We attended the party and got to the hotel around 10PM. We were really tired. We got to our quiet room, closed the blinds and didn't wake up for 10 hours. The bed was soo comfortable! The AC wasn't crazy loud. The quality of the sheets were excellent ( Cuddledown.com). Staff was very pleasant in the morning and the hotel coffee had a nice kick to it!

We took a leisurely drive on Highway 88 up to Jackson to stay at The National Hotel and experience some unique Amador County local wines. The old main street of town is filled with history and compliments the hotel for great walking and sightseeing. The hotel is modern and upgraded with taste and the sophistication that retains the antique feel while providing the modern luxury and amenities visitors enjoy. Noah at the main desk could not be more helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. He makes your stay most enjoyable, providing every comfort for you. Noah is a real gem and a standard for hoteliers to look up to.
Breakfast was wonderful. Drawback: Steven the night desk clerk was abrasive and rude, our only complaint!

Room Tip: Room 201 is the "John Wayne" suite, as the The Duke stayed here when shooting a film of ye...

Really fun place to stay, recommended by friends. We went for a birthday weekend and to visit some of the offbeat wineries in nearby Plymouth. The hotel's history is interesting, the rooms are spotless and comfortable, and the town is entertaining. Great place to visit the gold country and sample the local wine. The staff, by the way, could not be friendlier.

An excellent restoration of a historic hotel. The room was dark but the furnishings were comfortable with antiques, spa quality linens and good service. Stephen was gracious and helpful when we checked in. Our only complaint was that the restaurant, bar and most of the shops in town were closed on Monday and Tuesday. Otherwise we would have rated it higher.

Room Tip: Balcony in rear is noisy. Get one on the street.
