Try spreading cold butter on cold toast.…or feeling your fork bend as you cut into hard toast topped with overcooked poached eggs. Now add real slow service, cold country potatoes, and a ‘testy’ waitress. Such a disappointment. We miss the old Rosebud Café!

Keep your basil infused water! Bring back the charm of the original café ….an old fashioned diner with an inviting counter, abundant pies and pastries, hot food and friendly staff.
There should be a way to bring the farm to the table in a tasty, inviting way. They just haven’t figured it out yet!

Perhaps Citizen Kane had brunch here and that's why his last word was "Rosebud"! I'd had lunch here before & wanted husband to try it..so while at timeshare in Angels Camp drove the 29 miles to Jackson for brunch. He LOVED it! Breakfast is his favorite meal and he said this was the best breakfast he had ever had. Great "free range eggs from happy chickens", really great ham (not salty) & great gravy! Lunch is also excellent. We're driving the 29 miles tomorrow for breakfast! Don't miss eating here if you're in the vicinity!

We stopped in for brunch at Rosebud's Cafe on our way home from Tahoe...what a FANTASTIC place. Family run, with a farm-->table concept. We shared the "Sled" omelet (which came with what my partner described as the most appetizing looking biscuit he'd ever seen) and the French Toast. Both were excellent! The french toast was perhaps the best I've ever had. Friendly service and a wonderful ambience! On your way to (or from) Tahoe...make sure to stop by this wonderful spot in Jackson.

Rosebud's used to be a family favorite for us many years ago when our daughter was small. It was closed for a while but re-opened this year after a re-model and new "farm to fork" commitment to local ingredients. The best news is that the same family runs the current Rosebud's as did the "old" Rosebud's! - and that is a very good thing. The food is hearty, local, and organic to the extent possible. The vibe is casual and the employees (and the owners, who work in the restaurant too) are welcoming and fun. The food is simply amazing and you must try it. The fish and chips are great, the orchard chicken sandwich is our daughter's favorite, and the "Jam-wich" (pork belly with homemade peach jam on a soft roll!), is another winner. Often there are three menus from which to choose - breakfast, brunch and lunch - with some items evolving to match the available ingredients from the family farm or other nearby farms and ranches. Oh, and there is wine and beer (Guinness on tap!) and espresso drinks available too. Even the "basic" coffee comes from Old Soul in Sacramento. There is an Irish theme going on but it is more than a theme since the family is Irish and the adjacent Irish products store is "in the family" as well. The two stores are connected and the Irish store is well-worth a visit. Give this a try - you won't be disappointed.
