This was an unexpected gem of a hotel. Who knew we would find something so neat in Irvine! We were looking for a decent but cheap place for the night to stay after going to a concert. The rate was extremely affordable, and half of the rooms are in an old converted granary building. It's in the middle of a little complex of historic buildings called "Old Town Irvine." It appears to be the only place in Irvine that hasn't been razed for commercial buildings or housing subdivisions. The rooms in the granary are built in what would have once been grain silos, so they're hexagon-shaped with concrete walls. Room was neat, finishes felt pretty new. The public areas looked a little worn, but nothing extreme. The staff is very casual and informal--to be expected at a La Quinta. Also, within the little complex is a hamburger joint, a Denny's, a post office, and a gas station among other things.
