“Construction, Dust, and Noise”
Reviewed August 15, 2006

I cannot believe this property is #1 in Irvine! I checked the reviews here before making the reservation, and this is the first time I feel completely duped by the reviewers and the website!

The problems:
Drove past the building three times, because there is no sign on the main street directing you into the hotel property.
Drove around for 20 minutes trying to self-park and there wasn't a single space available.
The entire building is surrounded by massive construction sites.
The noise from the construction is unbearable; tried to relax by the pool a bit, and couldn't stand the noise, flying sparks from the welders.
Ordered room service after 10 hours of travel, and it was awful. The chicken in the quesadillas was so chewy that I had to pull it out - it was either leftover chicken, or it wasn't fully cooked - time will tell.
The elevators smell so bad, that you have to hold your breath while riding.
I was "upgraded" to a quieter room with a 1/4 mile view of the construction site.
And, worst of all...when I made the reservation directly with the hotel, they made no mention of the construction, and charged me full, rack rate!

NEVER coming back here again, just too tired to move to another hotel. And, I've only been here for a few hours, so there could be more complaints.

We stayed at 4 different hotels during our recent Californian Family Vacation. This was our last stop. Picked it because we try to use Marriotts (frequent flyer points thing!) and I got a great breakfast getaway price.

Also we were leaving early on our second morning from Orange County airport which is right across the street and the main item on our agenda was Laguna Beach which is a close and easy drive.

What makes this hotel rate an excellent is most definitely the staff. They completely bend over backwards to be helpful. They have a button on the phone for some kind of immediate service. It was like a magic button--you could use it for everything!

The pillows on the beds were awesome as were the amenities. The TV's throughout the hotel are gorgeous flat screen tv's. And, my older daughter was thrilled to discover that the clock/radio was also a dock/charger for her IPOD. We did have to listen to many loud songs however!

The only complaint I can make is the room was quite small for 4 of us with a decent amount of luggage. Also the bathroom is very small and cramped and hard to control the water temperature.

But, we came from a huge family size room at Disney with an equally huge bathroom and if you can believe it even quicker service, so I'm probably not being completely fair.

It was a great concierge lounge, just a shame Marriott now closes a lot of their more business clientele lounges on Friday mornings and re-open on Sunday night.

Had paid for a breakfast package on Saturday morning, but we had an early flight and it opened too late for us to take advantage of eating. It was promptly taken off the bill however!

Would stay here again in a flash--even recommend it to drive to Disney. We made from Disney in only about 20 minutes!

If you need lodging in the Irvine/Orange County area, this hotel is a GREAT find! 4-stars! Beautiful lobby, extremely helpful employees, elegantly renovated hotel that feels "like new": and oh, those beds! The reviews here were right. featherbeds and down comforters make those beds so inviting - and what a good night's sleep! Big TV was great for watching the Olympics. Hotel is 5 minutes from airport. Only complaints were the view from our room of the highway, (perhaps that is why we got such a great rate ($64) on Priceline?) and the $12. parking fee.

We stayed over at the Irvine Marriot over the Thanksgiving holiday.

This was our 4th stay at this hotel over the past few years. Even thought the hotel was packed with kids from a soccer and a tennis tournament, the stay went well. We had a group with 6 rooms and the front desk staff was very accomodating. I love the Starbucks in the hotel...makes the mornings go much smoother.

My only complaint (just kidding).....the beds were way too comfortable.. didn't want to get up at 6:00 a.m. but we had too!!

The hotel itself is nice enough and the bed was super comfy (down comforters), but I couldn't sleep due to anxiety, so I turned on the tv and found myself looking at some pretty hard core pay per view ("Barely Legal") pornography. I went down to the front desk and complained and the desk lady was apologetic and said she would take it off my bill. My question was "what if my child had been with me?" Shouldn't this stuff be a little more tricky to access? Also the service in the sports bar was incredibly slow even though there were about five people total in the whole bar. I really wouldn't stay here again even if the beds do have nice blankets.

Stayed here for one night at the end of July, 2005. While we had a late check-in, there were no problems and the front desk made it a quick, efficent, (if not entirely friendly) experience. Nice lobby with a very much appreciated Starbucks. Room was a good size with views of the fountain outside. No freeway noise for us -- maybe we just got lucky. No noise from other rooms either -- but seeing as this is probably more of a business hotel and we were there on a Friday night, maybe we just got lucky again. The bed is one of the most comfortable ever, with double sheeting over the down comforter, extra pillows and a soft, pillowy mattress. Bathroom was nicely stocked with Netrogena products, clean and tidy. We got this hote for $53 off Priceline -- a deal!

The Marriott Irvine is exactly what you expect from a Marriott hotel; clean, modern looking room, great service, and the bed is wonderful. This was a Priceline chosen hotel. Once the reservation was made I called the Marriott and requested a non-smoking, king bed, on an upper floor. Marriott gave me exactly what I asked for and the room was a corner room so it had views in two direction.

We spent time at Dana Point looking at the tide pools, Main beach in Laguna, and Balboa Island in Newport, plus we spent a day at Disneyland. This is a great location to stay at to access all of the above listed points.

Would definetly stay here again for a vacation. And I plan to stay here for business.
