They have done very nice remodeling, but what has not changed is the great customer service.
The rooms are very well appointed and the location is 5 star.
The parking is a little weird, but manageable.
We purchased a salad and a sandwich for the plane from Starbucks. They were both delicious.
We had the concierge floor breakfast, see photo, and we could not decide which was better- the food or the service.
This is a definite, "Gotta Go" kinda place.

IHG,
Rube

I needed to check some email before bed. I've spent several thousand dollars to earn my Silver Elite Status. Not through promotions or credit cards but by literally staying at Marriott's around the word. So imagine my disappointment when the Irvine Marriott demanded I pay $16 for Internet access because I was "only a Silver Elite Member". Shame on you Marriott for making Internet access, which is free at every hotel I've stayed at except Marriott, a point of customer friction rather than a no-cost form of maintaining Customer loyalty. I was so annoyed that I booked the following 10 days at The Wyndham right across the street which was not only cleaner, but also much more respectful towards their loyal customers.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very disappointed to hear that our charges for the internet were so displeasing to you and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

As a Silver Elite member you are a very valuable customer to us and we apologize that we did not make you feel that way during your stay here. We are very proud of our Marriott Rewards loyalty program and your Silver Elite status does provide you with some great benefits such as elite reservation and guest services lines, 20% more elite bonus points per dollar spent, priority late checkout and much more. Complimentary internet is a benefit which we offer to our Gold and Platinum guests and we try to follow the benefits as they are posted in order to maintain the integrity of our program.

We do have complimentary internet access in our lobby at all times but we charge for internet access in our guest rooms because we find that this enables us to maintain a higher quality connection for all of our guests. For $9.95 you have access for up to 4mbps and for an additional $4 you have access to up to 12mbps.

We would like the opportunity to regain your loyalty and trust. Please feel free to contact our Rooms Operations Manager, Noel Fellow at (949) 553-0100 if there is anything we can do for you.

Our family of 4 stayed at this hotel over the weekend. First the positives....location is convenient and easy to find. The lobby is very plush and nicely decorated and the onsite Starbucks is a huge plus. However, we were less than impressive with:

1. Finding a pair of women's black slacks folded on the floor next to the bed covered in dust. The pants were laying between the bed and the nightstand that separates the 2 beds. Given the amount of dust covering the pants, I would say they had been there awhile. Oddity #1 for sure.

2. The hallways of the non-smoking floor were smoky and musty smelling and someone 2 doors down from us was enjoying some pot smoking both nights we stayed there. Not the hotels fault, but....

3. Valet service is at a snails pace. Both coming and going it took way too long. On the 2nd day we returned about 4:00 PM and waited about 10 minutes in our vehicle to give the car back to the valet attendants. After waiting that long I decided to just park the car in the hotel entry circle and hand the keys to an attendant since the key ring already had the valet tag & numbers on it. As I approached the attendant and gave him the keys I pointed to my car and said, "These keys go with that car over there." He replied, "ya I know" and walked off in a hurry away from me. So much for a little customer service.

4. No free wifi. Our family travels quite a bit and it's shocking to find that in this day and age a hotel still charges for wifi in the rooms.

5. Maid service. The beds in our room were made, but both days the dirty towels were collected, but fresh towels were not left. The first day we called to get towels that evening, but the 2nd day we were again left with 1 clean bath towel and 3 hand towels for a family of 4. Very strange....however, going by the pants we found in #1 above, I think something is lacking in the housekeeping training or something.

Overall, the trip was "fine" and nothing was to the point that it ruined our trip. However, we wouldn't seek out this hotel when returning to the area ever again. Just so-so in our opinion.

Friendly staff and decent, clean (though borderline threadbare and worn out) rooms and super cramped bathrooms. So why the low rating? First, the property charges an EXORBITANT overnight parking charge of $20.00. Yes folks, TWENTY DOLLARS to self park your car in outdoor, uncovered parking lot. Ridiculous.

Second, this is one of those cheap properties where the management shuts off the air conditioning in the rooms at night so you will be sweltering. I know we all need to save some money but hotels that try to save a buck at their customers' expense really irks me to no end. I'm paying a lot to stay in your hotel so I should at least expect to be comfortable temperature-wise.

This property often shows up on Priceline, meaning they can't fill their rooms at the "rack rate." NEVER again. You have been warned.

Thank you for your feedback. We feel terrible that we failed to fully meet your expectations and wanted to take a moment to address your concerns.

We understand parking is a premium in and around most airports and Orange County is no exception. Our fee enables us to manage our parking inventories and most importantly in offering a safe and secure parking experience for our guests. We go to great lengths to inform our guests of the hotels on- site parking fee. Which are indicated in your pre-arrival email and upon check-in, when our clerk authorizes your guest room key for in and out privileges to the parking facility.

Additionally, please accept our sincere apologies for any displeasure the HVAC malfunction caused you. We would like to reassure you that the comfort of our guests is of upmost importance and would like to assure you that the thermostatic controls within your guestroom are controlled solely by our guests. We’d like an opportunity to examine the thermostat and insure that everything is calibrated correctly. Should your time permit, we welcome you to contact to the hotel and ask to speak with Gloria Cortez in the Executive Office.

I was here for a conference, and scored a room on the Concierge level (but never used the Concierge lounge). The room was a typical nice Marriott room, and Internet worked well. The hotel is right off the freeway, but it's comfortable and quiet. There are a lot of good restaurants, etc. nearby, some within walking distance. The John Wayne airport is very close, but we seemed to be out of the flight path.

Room Tip: High floors, away from the freeway side.

My husband and I stayed here for the weekend, to sort of getaway for the weekend to celebrate our Anniversary; take in a jazz concert close by and to hang out near the beach. We had an awesome experience, from the the staff in valet to the front desk and even the friendly housekeeping ladies! I would also like to give a special thanks to Samantha who checked us in. She is so friendly and easy to talk to as we had a few laughs while checking in. The next day special services delivered a tray of chocolate dipped strawberries and a bottle of wine. The whole set up was beautiful and we were pleasantly surprised. Thank you for your thoughtfulness!! We will be back!

I had the pleasure of staying here recently and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food being served in the hotel restaurant and bar. We were attending an event over two days and were going to be hostage to the hotel for its duration. I was expecting pretty standard hotel fare but was delighted when I spotted burrata mozzarella and Heirloom tomatoes on the offerings and it did not disappoint, we were on to a winner. In fact all the food offerings over both days were a credit to your establishment. Kudos to your food team and keep pushing the boundaries, it's not easy to achieve but you guys seem to have pretty much nailed it. The rooms were comfortable, quiet and clean and from check in to departure (including the great breakfast) all your employees were outstanding.
Thank you, a lot of places should take a leaf out of your book. Keep setting standards.
