“Good Chinese food at good price for BBQ side, pricey for seafood side”
Reviewed April 2, 2013 via mobile

There are 2 restaurants here, Sam woo seafood and Sam woo BBQ express. While the seafood side is nice w tablecloths and nice decor, the food is pricey. I went there last week and spent $40 on egg rolls, honey walnut shrimp, and Chinese broccoli w oyster sauce. I can say they have excellent honey walnut shrimp!

In contrast, I often go next door to the BBQ express where they have a constantly busy takeout line, serving generous portions of items like sweet/sour fish, spicy fried pork chop, chicken & straw mushrooms, chicken w black bean sauce, stir fried green beans, etc all served w rice and noodles and soup for the combo. I often get noodle soup w wontons or beef chowfun noodles w black bean sauce. All items mentioned above are delicious and cheap. It's a great place to pick up dinner when no time to cook.

“Excellent meal at reasonable price”
Reviewed February 20, 2013 via mobile

Three of us had lunch at this Sam Woo location in Irvine. We ordered 5-6 Dim Sum dishes plus noodles, a sea cucmber with baby bakchoy dish, a dish with Japanese soft tofu and half a Peking duck. Everything we ordered was delicious.

Total cost was around $56, which I think is rather reasonable for a meal that included some Chinese delicacies.

Service was excellent, the pace of food delivery was very good, and the waiters made sure the pot of tea was topped up.

Overall, it was an excellent dining experience.

“Good Chinese food”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

We came here several times in the last year and recently in Los Angeles . The food is tasty and good. Always crowded and long time to wait. The chow mien is always good. Roasted duck is excellent. We will definitely try the food to go next time. We will come back...

“So SO”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

We were at Sam Woo with a large group of friends the other night. Service was not up to what I consider good. Slow and more interested in getting the tables turned over than providing good service. Had to ask at least 3 times for another pot of tea. Food was mediocre and not up to what we expected.

“very good restaurant with great dim sum”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Sam Woo(三和, means "heaven, earth and human in harmony") has several restaurants(10?): this is probably the best of those and newer in LA area. Dim sum is inexpensive, a very important point. multiple dim sum choices, but you have to order through waiter/waitress. Nice is the menu carries clear pictures, you won't miss any nice dishes. Restaurant setting/environment is better than most dim sum restaurants in LA areas. They serve full courses’ dinner/meal too. May Li, the manager, is very friendly and pleasant. We enjoy it very much. sure would come back.
