SpringHill Suites Irvine John Wayne Airport/Orange County
Ranked #11 of 23 Hotels in Irvine
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed February 6, 2014

I stayed at the SpringHill Suites Irvine for a 3-day/night stretch recently, and found many things to like about it, but also some aspects that weren't so pleasant. That said, I'd at least consider staying here again on a trip out to the area.

Pros:
- Great location - close to the airport but not overloaded with flight noise.
- Good value for the money - well furnished modern rooms for a reasonable price.
- Breakfast was quite good, probably one of the best complimentary breakfasts I've had at a hotel, and sadly I've eaten a number of them. Real eggs (powdered eggs must have been made by the devil), lots of fruit, cold cuts, sausages, cereals, pastries, and the coffee is pretty good!
- Great service - the staff was always pleasant and helpful whenever I needed them, and unobtrusive when I didn't.

Cons:
- This may be a hotel thing or a western U.S. thing, but it seems as if there is no such thing as cold water out of a faucet. Lukewarm and hot are the only options, so get ice if you need a colder drink of water.
- The shower leaked in multiple places - and this is due to the design of the shower, there are gaps everywhere that let water out onto the floor, soaking anything sitting there.
- The hotel is only three years old, but the rooms show age older than that - stains on the carpets, stains on the furniture, wear marks everywhere, discoloration of mirrors, and so on.
- Mold starting to grow on the air conditioner vents - I've seen this at other hotels, but it's not a good thing. I'm not allergic or sensitive to it, but I can imagine problems for people who are.

Overall, the hotel is nice - they trumpet the fact that it is a 3-year old hotel, which is great, but it is already showing its age in a number of places. A few more years down the road and the ranking could drop precipitously. I will still consider it strongly for my next visit - the breakfast was that good!

Thanks for reading - if you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

Stayed her for a Sat/Sun night stay and enjoyed our stay. Hotel is 4 years old and has a modern decor - check out the pictures already posted by others. We had a 2 Queen + sofa room, with a large walk-in closet, an isolation room (toilet & sink), and a shower (very high showerhead)/sink room. Glass partition in front of desk separated the beds and the sitting area, so it gave a little privacy between the areas. Small fridge & microwave. Breakfast is standard Springhill Suites style: scrambled eggs, sausage, breads, cereals, and various drinks. The waffle makers came out for the Sunday breakfast; fruit, ham & cheeses came out on Monday morning. 2 computers and a printer were just outside the breakfast area.

This is the nicest SpringHill Suites I have ever stayed in. The hotel is only 4 years old, and the decor is terrific. The rooms are well designed with a great work space, and a sofa that is actually comfortable. The toilet is seperate from the shower. And each room has a small refrigerator and microwave. There is a small snack shop in the lobby area. The breakfast was typical but also included sliced cheeses and meats. The location is great if you are flying in or out of John Wayne Airport. It will take only 10 minutes or so to get to the hotel, and if the freeways are jammed you can take surface streets. There is an indoor pool which I didn't use, but looked perfectly fine.

This location is easy to find, with great access to the airport. The hotel itself is new, with clean and modern rooms. Breakfast is included as well. I'd recommend SpringHill to anyone passing through for a night or staying in the area for a few days.

We were impressed by the cleanliness of this hotel. The room had a separate shower and restroom area which was a great idea. We enjoyed the studio feel of our room. The putting green was a hit with us, too. The breakfast was a little hairy but only because of other guests and not any fault of the hotel. The only downside is being in So. Cal and having an indoor pool! We'd stay here again- no problem.

Business brought me to the Irvine, CA area so I booked a room at the Springhill Suites for myself & my family. The appearance of the property interior is very nice. The lobby looks very modern & accommodating. Upon entrance to our room we were impressed with the decor & space of the room. I really liked that the doors to the bathrooms were sliding doors, and not the standard type. The bed looked nice, but was a bit disappointing as it was a bit stiff and uncomfortable. The shower pressure was a bit disappointing as the shower looked nice & relaxing, but the shower pressure was pretty weak. The thermostat was a bit off as well. One minute the room would be comfortable, then it was be hot and then cold. One of the key features that attracted us to the hotel was the fact that it had an indoor pool. The indoor pool was very small. Needless to say I didn't get a chance to bring my boys the indoor pool so they could enjoy it. Anymore than a couple people in that tiny pool made it seem too uncomfortable to join in. The free breakfast was okay at best. You have a decent spread, but its nothing to go running to the breakfast bar for. You get the basics along with powered eggs & sausage links. The hotel was close to the highways which was a plus for getting to where you needed to go quickly. Overall not bad, but nothing great.

We had a bad experience with a nearby good nite inn and needed to book something new last minute for 2 more nights. This came across the radar with great reviews and proved itself worthy. Modern, sleek, contemporary design. Clean rooms. Even a small gym, pool, and putting green! Not to mention a great complimentary breakfast with choices that crush continental comparisons of nearby competition.
