This top-level resort gives you a totally problem-free holiday, your butler will take care of everything you need, always with a smile. At the arrival in Male you can choose which soap&shampoo you'd prefer throughout your stay and most important, how you'd like to be treated: involved in different activities or simply left alone with your beloved in your villa and beach.
The villas are superb, the spa is with high level personnel, the restaurants could earn some Michelin stars and the rest is up to you: love, live and enjoy..
It's 20 years we come to the Maldives but from now on this is going to be ours!

Room Tip: It seemed ridiculous to me before but I must admit that the private pool in your beachy garden is wo...

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2014

Firstly id like to apologize to write a review so late since i stayed here in mid september 2013 for 5 days(wish i had stayed more).
it was for our honey moon and my wife and me looked at 100 places, even 10 or more locations inclusing seychelles, bali, hawai, mauritius etc.and after looking at some more than 50 hotels in maldives we finally chose this one.
we chose one as a island beach type which is soneva fushi and another over water villa in corand rangali,so wed get boht the experience ,as soneva did not have the water villas.

NOW TO get into details....
ive been to atleast 50 different hotels in different countries and different hotel chains as well.but i can say without any doubt that soneva fushi has the best service compared to any of them,be it hilton ,IHG group, accor group, taj etc.
they have a butler system there, and they are called mr n miss friday,no concierge like other hotels but mr friday which was MR.ARAVIND in our case has helped is on each and every small thing.
MR.ARAVIND had helped us make our stay beautiful and without any issues.he helped us take a lot of snapshot in our camera as well as his professional camera and might i say he was not less than a proffessional.he had taken us around the whole island ,by walkin , in a buggy and in bicycle.checkin and check out no issues at all..thankyou VERYY VERY MUCH MR. ARAVIND FOR HAVING MADE OUR STAY VERY PEACEFUL AND CALM AND HAPPY.i really dont know if your still working there but if you are , you defenitely need the recognition of superior service and ur coworkers and seniors need to know as well..

NOW TO GET ABOUT TO THE HOTEL,
the hotel and the location was a paradise for us,robinson crusoe experience,me and my wife love it.we both love rustic feeling but cannot compromise hygene.this is the only place that had maintained cleanliness and hygiene along with being rustic and natural, ive veen in other places as well which is natural and rustic but defenitely cannot match the standards.

the house reef was pretty dull compared other places ,but snorkelling is not the main attractive here.this is a jungle home , tropical paradise along with a beach and snorkelling activities,so when you think of it that way its an added advantage.people who come for snorkelling alone shouldnt choose this.you should enjoy the rooms, the natural beatuy of the island , the clear beaches, the water sports centre, and not the mention the amazing amazing foood they have and they do also have a chocolate rooom which we loved..open most of the time and you can have anytime.
they upgraded the room for us ,so when we stayed we got two villas ,it was a beedroom suite with a treetop villa as well, so we would stay in both places as we wished, never ever had i felt soo much privacy and sooo much area other than my own house...not in any other resort i had sooo much private space to ourselves.

actually i had forgotten most of the small things from the trip as it had been more than 6 months and did not get any time to add a review , but now when i saw the photo of hotel in tripadvisor i just had to write it.better late than never.

finally id like to stay we had the best memories of our life here,my wife still gets upset thinking of the times we had in soneva fushi only because we miss it.surelyy when we get time we will defenitely make it to soneva fushi again:).

thank you very very much soneva fushi...

I am speechless, and so touched that you have made the effort to review the property with so much detail, and after such a lengthy decision making process. With so many options you chose Soneva Fushi as your No. 1 choice.

My 2 daughters, my wife and I spent 3 days / 2 nights at the resort. We had an absolutely amazingly relaxing time there - the reef is well protected and great for snorkelling or diving (we only snorkelled), all guests are expected to be barefoot in the resort. Its a large island with majority of it being jungle - great to walk / cycle in it exploring the various parts. The beach is nice, the staff extremely courteous, friendly and go the extra mile to cater to your last wish. The Mr/ Miss Friday (butler) with each room is very good; our Mr Friday helped us with everything we wanted. The observatory (largest one in the indian ocean) allows you to view planets (SAturn with rings, Mars with its moons); dining in the elevated "Fresh in the Garden" restaurant amidst a vegetable garden / jungle underneath starry skys is heavenly. The beach cinema experience on a large screen lying in a deck chair is enjoyable. The use of natural materials in construction, the attention to minutest detail (including sweeping back leaves into the jungle, use of jute bags instead of garbage bins, glass bottles for water instead of plastic ones (no plastic bottles allowed) has to be observed to be felt. The chocolate bar, the dessert room are something unique and will get repeated visits (by children and adults alike). i could just go on and on...have a drink at the Bar A Bar in the evening watching the sun set. Would recommend it to anyone and also go there again myself (>50% of the guests are repeat customers).

Soneva Fushi is ‘intellegent luxury’ at its best. We were there in early February and the villa was beautiful, just yards from the beach with an amazing outlook out to sea. The villa had everything we needed and when we were ever in need of anything our ‘Man Friday’ was available to help us out – even bringing some beach toys for our 2 year old daughter to play with. The breakfast was incredible – with a cheese room and a chocolate room and lots of incredible fruit. We really enjoyed the open air cinema, sunset cocktails on the sandbank and riding bikes through the cool sandy paths of the jungle. One of the most interesting things we did was a tour of the Eco Centre to see how Soneva is doing its part to be a truly eco-friendly and sustainable resort and encouraging us to do the same in our own little way. The resort is very family friendly and our daughter loved the 'den'. We would recommend Soneva to anyone and hope to visit again some day.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post such a wonderful review of your stay at Soneva Fushi. We are delighted to know that you and your daughter enjoyed all the Learning, Inspiring, Fun, Experiences (LIFE) that we had on offer including our cheese and chocolate room. We are glad you took time to visit our Eco Centre and see for yourself all the great initiatives taken to turn waste to wealth – and most of all it made us so happy to know that you were encouraged to do the same.

Thank you once again for your positive feedback and for recommending our resort to your friends and others.

We hope you will return with your daughter sometime soon, to check out the many interesting activities that we have planned for the children when our Children’s Den opens later this year.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback from your stay in June 2013. We are happy to know that Soneva Fushi is your favourite resort in the Maldives and that you enjoyed the comfortable, spacious villa and the eco friendly atmosphere of the island.

We strive daily to reduce our carbon footprint and think of innovative and measurable ways of ‘decarbonizing’ and the latest initiative is our glass waste to wealth studio opening in November - here we will be turning waste glass from both ours and other resorts into beautiful works of art.

Once again delighted you enjoyed your vacation with us and look forward to welcoming you back soon.

this was our fifth time at Maldives and .. i can tell the best ever! we've been there last week of march 2014 and I confirm that the place is fantastic:all you can expect from a very relaxing place..there it is! as all the beautiful things have already been said in other posts, just let me add that the "luxury" you can experience here is the Nature; its power and strength. this is not ideomatic, luxury is the way they let you experience and enjoy the nature. one of the thing I've better enjoied was the bike-riding in the middle of "the jungle" to go from one place to another and of course the privacy+ silence that here is guarantee.
their maxim is "no news no shoes" and this is true; if you want, you can really forget all the enforcements the society lay down us. but don't worry: for everything you may need/forget/desire, the resort put at your beck and call a personal helper (the so called "Mr. Fridays") that wellcome you in the boat trasfer and to whom you can/have to ask for everything: from the restaurant reservations-to the check out. Our Mr friday was Shameen,a young maldivian guy that also spoke a little Italian that was very sweet and professional all week long; I really wish you to be lucky enough to end up with him too ;) he realy makes the difference of our staying.
last 3 things to say:
1 children: we were there with our little child (9 months): if you want to enjoy the island at its best, better your child beeing older (or stay home) and not only because everything in the island is "romantic- oriented" but especially becasue in the resort, the "eco-philosophy" sometimes makes life harder than we are used to.. they really use candles better than electricity that means that in the evening (and there darkness comes fast!) is too dark for little children; the sand all over makes the stroller-walk nearly impossible..etec
2 hospital: in front of the island there's a "big" island - not turistic - (2000 inhabitants) with also an hospital. of course this is not what you have to think before going to maldives but if you are maybe 5 months pregnant and a little in anxiety.. the hospital right in fornt is always a good things to have ;) - do not forget that Malè is 1 hour flight away.

3- once there, do not miss the private sandbank dinner and bring your camera for fantastic memories.INDIMENTICABILE!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review about your recent stay at Soneva Fushi. My Team and I are so pleased to read that you had a very relaxing holiday and that this was your best trip ever.

We are glad that you recognize and appreciate the eco friendly lifestyle at Soneva Fushi - we call it ‘Intelligent Luxury’ which is about understanding the daily lives of our guests and offering them experiences that are both ‘new’ - in that they are rare, unusual and exceptional to our guests but at the same time 'true' - in that they are highly desired and cherished by our guests.

Soneva Fushi during the evening comes to life with all the low lighting candles and soft lighting around the restaurants and villas. Part of our de-carbonizing goals is to have fewer lights around the restaurants where candles play an important part.

We are delighted that your children had a great time and enjoyed our eco philosophy. This year Soneva Fushi builds a one of a kind Children’s Den which opens in late 2014. Our unique hosts such as our Marine Biologist, Waste to Wealth Manger, Environmentalists and Horticulturalists will be involved in the running of the Den creating new Learning, Inspiring, Fun Experiences for Children.

We look forward to seeing you again, hopefully in the not too distant future.

Yours sincerely,

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
When Eva and Sonu Shivdasani built Soneva Fushi as well as their home on the deserted island of Kunfunadhoo in the Maldives in 1995 they had no idea that their intensely personal vision of a locally crafted villa and environmentally responsible lifestyle would form the basis of a successful collection of world-class hotels, resorts and spas. But that's exactly what happened. Soneva Fushi was the first 'castaway' resort in the Maldives, pioneering a trend for back-to-nature luxury holidays. It established a blueprint for a highly acclaimed international business, followed by spectacular Soneva Kiri on the unspoilt Thai island of Koh Kood in 2009. The success of the Soneva brand also paved the way for Six Senses Resorts and Spas with award-winning properties in Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Under Eva's and Sonu's direction the Six Senses brand gained a global following before being sold in 2012. Today the Sonevas have many imitators, but no equals. Each Soneva - and a yachting experience, Soneva in Aqua - impresses on a wide range of levels. Breathtaking 'remote but accessible' natural locations, effortlessly chic accommodation, incredible food, truly memorable activities, an inspiring ethos of sustainability and service that is uncannily intuitive. The resort that set the tone and the standards for every subsequent resort. A jewel of an island - large by Maldives standards - with perfect beaches, a vibrant reef encircling the island, a colony of nesting turtles and its very own world class observatory. Located in the Baa Atoll, Maldives' only UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, Soneva Fushi is blessed with extensive coral reefs and significant biodiversity including large concentrations of whale sharks, manta rays and marine turtles. The resort is perfect for romantic couple getaways, or family holidays as it provides unique experiences and activities for all, from diving and snorkelling with the marine biologist, to sandbank dinners and a children's den (playground). ... more   less
