This place was great! Located between Pt. Reyes and Inverness, it overlooks tidal marshes and has very nice landscaping. A quite nice great room with fire place and billiards table make a cosy addition to the rooms. The room we stayed in was an upgrade. We looked at the originally booked room and it, too, was quite nice, although not as large as the 2 bedroom one we stayed in. Shannon, the "inn keeper" was very helpful regarding guiding us to a fantastic dinner at Saltwater in the village. All in all, an excellent place to spend a vacation night or three, or four!

GREAT place! My three stars is all related to our neighbors. Everyone was either absent from their decks or very quite - our neighbors - not so much - they had a loud voice and sat on the deck from 6am to 10pm. Professing about life and god knows what else - it got very old. So needless to say it made our experience less than ideal. Room #1 - Hearts Desire is great. A great room and great location. I guess it is a roll of the dice - choose your neighbors well. But of course you can't really do that.

Room Tip: Hearts Desire is a great room!

My husband and I had such a great experience here. Shannon was nothing but wonderful and friendly with great information on things to do, places to go. She printed out a menu from a restaurant for us, although we ended up getting food at the market down the street and eating in the main room by the fire and drinking wine. Noone was there while we were there, it was great. We played pool and sat on the patio watching the sunset and drinking wine, of course. It is so quiet there and the garden is so beautiful. We had a room with a patio, which I would suggest. We were only there for one night, which was not enough, but we had a great time.

Inverness? Or Motel? This is a wonderful place and they owners are very service oriented. If you want to be in Inverness, close to the Bay, and not far from beaches, lighthouse, park and other outdoor activities than this is a very reasonable place to stay. If you fixate on 'motel' then you will notice small rooms, upgraded bathroom/shower (small) and only a small window in the bathroom pointed at the view of the marsh. That makes the large lodge room even more attractive, since you can meet other guests, sit on the large outside deck facing the water, enjoy an evening fire, and read the paper.
If you've come to Point Reyes to 'get away from it all' than this is perfect. The nights are quiet even though the road is not far from the rooms. There's very little noise, especially mid-week, but quiet on the weekends, too. No wifi in the rooms and cell phone service is a bit spotty (1 or 2 out of 5 bars) and non-existant as you head toward the lighthouse and away from populated places. But that's why you're here, right?

We've stayed here a few times over the past 10 years and never have been disappointed by the service or the room.

We stayed here recently on a quick overnight trip to Point Reyes National Seashore. It is well located for visiting the seashore and the Tomales Bay area. Service was excellent, staff was very helpful. Three high points I will list. The Lodge room is excellent and roomy with good views of the bay. There is usually a fire in the evening, coffee and tea available, you could spend many hours there. There is also a walkway to a bird blind that extends out into Tomales Bay. We spent several excellent hours birding here. Finally our room had a very nice little porch where again, you had good view of the bay. The grounds are very nice, with an extremely peaceful garden. There are however some things you should be aware of if you plan to stay. The lodge appears to be renovated from and older motel. Thus the rooms are on the small side; but were big enough for us. Also the walls are on the thin side and noisy folks in adjacent rooms could be an issue. Finally for the area the price was right. We highly recommend the Inverness; it is excellently located, priced right, and if you aren't careful, you will spend so much time in the lodge room and the blind, that you won't get much sight-seeing done.

Room Tip: There is a larger suite room available.

This facility feels more like a lodge than simply a motel. It's located directly on Tomales Bay and is minutes from Point Reyes headlands, Drake's Beach, the lighthouse, Point Reyes Station and frequent wildlife encounter opportunities. Lynn and Shannon make sure that your needs are met and spare no opportunities to make sure your visit is pleasant.

Lodge room has fabulous views of the marsh with abundant wildlife. Hummingbirds constantly at the feeder on the large deck, and lots of ducks and egrets in the marsh. Room was small but comfortable and clean. Be warned when trying to find the Inn, GPS signal was lost long before I got there. Bring a map! The office is generally only open until 7, but the innkeeper stayed a little late to welcome me. She was wonderful, giving me a map of the area and advice on where to get food (Perry's). Just what I needed after a long journey!
