We wanted an inexpensive place to stay during a short weekend in the Coachella Valley and a friend recommended the Date Tree Hotel. From the moment we walked into the lobby, we were treated like VIPS. Jacob at the front desk was warm and extremely attentive and offered us free cookies! Check-in was a breeze and we were directed to a beautifully accommodated suite.

The hotel has free DVDs for rent (awesome for the kids) and our suite had TWO big screen TV's -- one in the bedroom and one in the living room.

The pool was gorgeous and surprisingly big!

The only drawback of the Date Tree is the exterior, but DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER! The outside of this hotel masks the best deal in the desert for folks traveling to Palm Springs/Indio. For the rate we paid, we'll DEFINITELY be staying again . . .

We don't usually take the time to give feedback unless we have a truly exceptional experience, but we just had to find time to let others know about this little gem!

I spent my birthday weekend with my friends in a wonderful suite at the BWDTH! From the time I checked in and was greeted by a great staff (Aaron, the General Manager; Jacob and everyone else) to the last bite of scrumptious waffles and biscuits and sausage gravy at the free continental breakfast bar, I felt pampered. There was a great selection of classic and first run movies in the lobby and I found several I'd been wanting to see (again, all complimentary). We relaxed in an extremely large pool where the water temp. was exactly right for my taste. Sitting in the spa at night looking up, watching and listening to the wind blowing gently through the date trees was amazing! There was ample parking and I felt perfectly safe walking around the grounds. My only regret was that I was not able to fit the hotel fitness room into my much-too-short of stay. Definitely next time! Thanks to all the staff for helping make my birthday weekend very, very enjoyable!

We stayed at this hotel late March 2008 as we were heading into the Joshua Tree National Park the next day. Took us a while to find the hotel but once we were there we were very impressed. Reception has free cookies, chilled water (and dates!) and is staffed by polite and knowledgeable employees.
The room was on the ground floor and the receptionist advised where to park so that we had a very short distance the carry bags etc. The room itself was excellent, plenty of space for a family of four; the free DVD rental was a hit with the kids too. Very comfortable beds and thick curtains to keep the room dark.
We loved the pool area - especially the hot tub. Kids found the pool slightly shallow but it didn't stop them splashing around for a couple of hours. There also seems to be a BBQ area near the pool.
Indio itself didn't seem to have much to offer and finding food outlets proved to be a challenge - I am sure with a better knowledge of the road system it would have been much easier.
Next morning the breakfast was OK but it seemed that everybody had gone at the same time. We managed to find a seat outside and enjoyed a small continental offering.
In all an excellent stop over and epecially convenient for Joshua Tree southern entrance.

Baked goods, dates, purified water with slices of citrus free for guests at the front desk. Check in and staff remembers your name throughout your stay! Property is older, but remodeled - clean and comfortable.Wi-Fi works well, TV works well. Free DVD players and free DVD movies. Beds are comfortable and linens are fresh. Bar-Q-Que grills available, decent pool facility. Breakfast is typical expanded continental, excellent staff ready to assist. The only complaint we would have is noise from the trains nearby. Traffic noise which used to exist on Indio Boulevard is gone (traffic has gone to nearby Highway 111). We enjoyed our stay at this property. Will go back.

OK, the location is not the greatest one, and when you arrive and see the exterior, you may think you really did a mistake... But what a great hotel! Huge pool and SPA, newly renovated (and large ) rooms, DVD for free, above average breakfast and very friendly staff. If you plan to go to Palm Spring, this is a very good alternative to more expensive accomadation downtown!
