“Sunday afternoon fun”
Review of Empire Polo Club

Spent a Sunday afternoon attending a polo match at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. What a great way to spend the day, watching talented polo payers on beautiful, athletic horses. Free entrance to the grounds and able to bring your own food and drinks (we brought champagne) and a blanket to sit on. There are bleachers, but with a blanket able to sit on the side lines. Many people had brought lawn chairs and coolers. At half time, you are invited on the field to stomp down the diverts. A fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon

Empire Polo Club is the most amazing club I've ever been to in my life. Vicky Owens will place you in your desired level of polo, George Dill has honest ponies for lease, and the night life is thrilling. Empire provides affordable polo considering the 8 perfectly manicured fields, knowledgeable umpires, and spectators galore! If you are bringing your own horses, the stalls are huge, level, dry, covered and there is plenty of water spiggots. From December to April Empire Polo Club should be on your destination list for awesome polo.

Friday night polo under the lights is great, free, you can take tour own food and drink, fun evening out. There is drinks for sale there as well. Dress warm in cool evenings though as it can get cold. Good fun.

If you happen to be visiting Palm Springs area Nov-Mar enjoy an afternoon at the Empire Polo Club! You can reserve a VIP parking pass and entrance fee by callling the Club. You will secure a reserved table, table service for lunch and enjoy a glass of Veuve Cliquot as you stomp divots at half time. For a real treat reserve a cabana with your own tent and sofa area! Main game usually starts at 2:00, but there is usually a lower goal game or event around 12. Great fun, mingle with the polo set and the announcer Kevin Ittig will inform you of all the rules and regulations as well as give you inside information on the sport! Dress up or dress down, just enjoy a great afternoon.

Keep in mind, we're Midwestern people....we get to see a horse race or two...and maybe trail ride while on vacation...but we NEVER get a chance to see polo unless we're here in Indio. For us, this is like being in a movie!

We paid $20 each for reserved seats and table service. We ordered a bottle of wine and settled in to watch the matches. We watched two matches and would have stayed for more. The horses, the crowd, the sun, the mountains, the palm trees.....how could this be better!?!?

If you visit, be sure to stomp a few divots...especially at half time of the second match because that's when they give you free champagne!

NOTE: You can attend without paying a fee. We chose to sit in the shaded seats, but if you bring a lawn chair you can still have a great time!

This is a must do for us....can't wait to do it again!
