“Nice & Chilled”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2011

This was the penultimate stop on our fly drive and again a bit like the Scottsdale hotel in that it was a Spa style resort. On arriving in Indian Wells I guess we were a little confused thinking that we were staying in Palm Springs but this isn't actually Palm Springs (though not that far away). To be honest, did it matter? Well no not really as the week we were there Palm Springs seemed to have shut down! The cable car was on holiday for a week so we couldn't do the infamous trip that is recommended anyway. The hotel was very luxurious and it was boiling when we got there so we headed straight for the pool to chill for the afternoon. The service was great in the adult only pool and we settled into a smoothie and shared a beef burger (see the photo, the portions were huge). It was a very chilled atmosphere and not that busy at all so plenty of sun loungers all under nice umbrellas to block the heat. That evening we headed into town not to Palm Springs but to Palm Desert and found a nice fish restaurant which had open air seating called El Paseo. It was pretty packed but the waitress was really friendly and the meal was really nice.

The next day more chilling at the pool and more smoothies to try! It was a really nice end to the stay and a great hotel.

Dear StarkyD-
Loved your review of our resort as a nice place to "chill"! Considering the extreme heat often found our here in the desert, even in September, Chill is a perfect word. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and found a way to Relax, Play and Indulge at the end of your journey. We look forward to seeing you again the next time you find yourself traveling through Indain Wells!
Cheers

We needed a hotel that was pet-friendly for our one night stop over. The hotel fee is $100 per night, too high in my opinion...they provided a doggie goodie bag consisting of a plastic water/food bowl, milkbones, and homemade dog toy (which my dog liked). The room felt like a "pets allowed" room...run down furniture, stains on chairs, carpeting, couch, and most distressing of all, stains on the duvet between the bed sheets. Food at breakfast buffet was very nice, and dinner in the bar was good, too. Main areas of the hotel have recently been renovated, and the hotel rooms are next for renovation.

Dear MountainTop:
We truly apologize that you found your room in this unacceptable condition on your recent stay. Our housekeeping management is currently conducting a thorough inspection of each pet friendly room to ensure the quality standards are being maintained. You should find no difference between a pet friendly room and any other room in the resort. The fact that we accept pets is a decision we made quite some time ago in order to be able to offer this additional service to travellers, such as yourself, who do not wish to leave their four-legged family members at home! Since many hotels do not allow pets, there is a value to the service and thus the one-time fee. I hope you will allow us a second chance to earn your loyalty on a future visit. Thank you for sharing your honest feedback.

We stayed here on a quick trip to Palm Springs and wow, what a place to stay. We booked 2 rooms to make sure we had plenty of room for our family. The rooms were huge and very comfortable. The hostess at check-in was so pleasant as was the valet.

There is so much to do at the hotel and the ammenities are great. We hope that we are able to go back to this hotel in the future when we have more time to relax and enjoy all the hotel has to offer.

Visited the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort for the AVID Site Team Conference. The rooms are spacious, however, the decor could be updated. Comfortable beds, great pillows. Large restrooms. My only complaint was the air conditioning. It was so loud. It sounded like a wind tunnel. We ate two meals through the catering and the southwest salad was amazing. I thought the staff was helpful and friendly. (With the exception of one waitress. Another waitress named Lizbeth made up for it. She has a great personality and interacted with our table.) I would return to this hotel.

This hotel has become my favorite spot in the desert. I previously stayed exclusively at the Ritz Carlton before it closed and loved it there. But after staying at the Hyatt I don’t see any reason to go back when the Hyatt has everything it has at one third the price. My room was huge with a sit outside balcony viewing the mountains. There is self parking for $10 day and a resort fee of $23 day. The pools are great, plentiful and poolside service was impeccable. The staff were courteous and knowledgeable. And the location of the hotel is close to everything especially El Paseo Dive in Palm Desert. Check out the shops and restaurants there. Needless to say I highly recommend this hotel.

We hadn't stayed at the resort in a few years but decided to go there for Thanksgiving with our family and stay in their villas. The staff was great and very helpful. The rooms nice and well appointed. We utilized a "breakfast package" and it worked very well. The staff in the restaurant was friendly, helpful and very responsive to our wishes. The only complaint I would have is the housekeeping staff's supply room was located in the middle of our villa complex and seemed to be in use from 8 am to 4 pm. The doors opening and closing could be heard throughout the villa complex and there was someone there most of the day so it didn't seem very private or quiet. Someone left plates and a broken glass on the fountain in the entrance and it took two days for someone to clean it up.

Dear Jack-

So glad you noticed and enjoyed our many , many changes and improvements! We are so excited to be able to present our new lobby, new bar, new suites, landscaping and grounds improvements, etc, etc, to our guests. In an economic time when most hotel owners are not in a position to reinvest in the properties, we are so fortunate and grateful that we have been able to. Top it all off with the best staff in the valley, and that's us.
Thank you for your review and we'll see you next time.

From the moment of driving to the entrance to checking out we had nothing but
positive and satisfying experiences. Front desk is efficient. Concierge desk is
top-notch. All staff are super friendly. Room and facility are clean, well-maintained
and well-appointed. Fitness center and spa are excellent. Breakfasts were tasty
will manu choices. All in all, our stay at the Grand Champions was superb.

Room Tip: Upon check-in we were up-graded to a upper floor poolside room which we liked very much.
