We went to Vicky's of Santa Fe last week for the first time in ages - like 10 years! And now we remember why we haven't been there in so long. It's okay - but nothing memorable. The food was okay, just boring. The service was okay but just that - nothing special. The ambience was okay, but again, nothing special. So it will probably be another 10 years before we go back. There are just a lot better places to dine from one end of the Coachella Valley to the other.

This is a first class restaurant - smallish meu, but very good variety and superbly cooked food. The adjacent bar/lounge with live music and dancing makes for great combination. It can be somewhat noisy in the restaurant at busy times.

Five of us went to Vicky's for a birthday dinner. We ordered 2 chickens for the 5 of us. Oh, this is ala carte. Wonderful bread was warm and served while we waited for our meals to arrive. Three of us shared a chicken, creamed spinach and a 'salad' of tomato slices and ??. The other 2 of us shared a chicken, a wonderful salad of greens and a baked potato. The chicken was tender but like roasted chicken you can make at home. The baked potato was burned.. Charred,, When asked for a potato not as burned, our server came back with another potato that was just as burned. There was 'serve yourself' butter and sour cream for the potato. That was nice. We had enough chicken left over to feed at least 3 more folks.. As we were traveling, left over chicken was a problem, a definite waste of money. One chicken would easily have fed all 5 of us. It was also cold in the restaurantand bar. There is a piano bar we enjoyed after dinner. Local talent with music from the 40's? We only knew one song the sang. There is only valet parking.

Went to Vicky's for the Sunday Jazz concert. Sat in the bar area because all was full in the Jazz area. Had a great jazz band and guest star. Really good smooth music. Good wine selection and prices for happy hour. Bar menu was excellent and reasonable. The shrimp cocktail was huge and the beef sliders looked like 3 hamburgers rather than miniatures. Staff was helpful and very courteous. Will go again for sure and will stay for the full dinner.

The staff are friendly and very attentive. The menu is quite limited...but so is the imagination of the chef, so it's probably a good thing. The atmosphere and decor are a little different for Palm Springs...I liked the Santa Fe touch...nice spacious dining room and somewhat 'southwest rustic' decor. But...the food is bland and for a place that advertises the 'santa fe' thing, there isn't a hint of southwest in the food. Even things like apple pie left a lot to be desired...even a bit of cinnamon would have added some interesting flavor. Bottom line...nice little place, nice staff, boring food.
