The staff are friendly and very attentive. The menu is quite limited...but so is the imagination of the chef, so it's probably a good thing. The atmosphere and decor are a little different for Palm Springs...I liked the Santa Fe touch...nice spacious dining room and somewhat 'southwest rustic' decor. But...the food is bland and for a place that advertises the 'santa fe' thing, there isn't a hint of southwest in the food. Even things like apple pie left a lot to be desired...even a bit of cinnamon would have added some interesting flavor. Bottom line...nice little place, nice staff, boring food.

Nice atmosphere. Well-prepared food. This can be said for so many local eateries.

“Enjoyable Evening”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2012

We had never been to Vicky's in the 24 years we have lived in the Valley. We decided to try it as part of the Palm Springs Restaurant Week with a fixed menu price of $24 on a Friday night. The servers were all friendly and efficient. We had a Happy Hour $5 drink and $6 appetizer in the lounge, both very good values. We felt the lounge decor was a bit "garage sale" mismatched. Some chairs were modern, some southwestern, a few high backed leather booth type, tables of different wood, a mirror by the band leaning off of the wall, etc. Shutters would have added character and helped to filter the harsh light, and a carpet replacement seemed needed.

The food was cooked well, however we did feel they rushed the food out, possibly due to the large crowd and needing table space. The waitress did not ask us if we would like coffee until after we had finished the dessert. The Butternut Squash Ravioli did not have any sauce, but was delicious. It was served in a bowl stacked one on top of the other. A presentation on a plate with a light sauce, some basil leaves and fresh parmesean cheese grated on top, would have enhanced the dish a lot. The pan seared sea scallops were presented more attractively and were very good.

Because we felt rushed, we took our remaining wine back into the lounge and enjoyed the band and watching some of the seniors dancing. We will return to Vicky's, but it is costly and a la carte, so we will probably wait for Restaurant Week next year or just go for the Happy Hour.

“Large portions & prices, good service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2012

We had a party of eight with a reservation on a very busy night and were seated as soon as we arrived at the restaurant. They also allowed us to have four separate bills with no problem. Service was excellent. Portions are very large and priced likewise. My wife had a filet mignon for $37. We could have split it, but she likes it blood rare and I like mine medium. She had it at home the next day also. I ordered pork chops for $26 (two). One was plenty and I ate the second at home the next day. Side orders are also large and are costly.
