Description: TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Restaurant in Idyllwild for 2014 Working in tandem with amazing culinary talent, some of which have gone on to The Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, NY and Le Cordon Bleu, the Aroma kitchen team uses classic recipes infused with unique, original ingredients, to create beautiful dishes with French, Nuevo Latino, Asian and SoCal influences. Cafe Aroma proudly supports our local farmers, wineries and brewers and features fresh, organic, and sustainable products, along with vegetarian and gluten free options. A unique bistro-gallery experience, featuring some of Idyllwild's most well-known and accomplished artists, featured in two-month, rotating exhibits. Idyllwild's hippest and funkiest dining establishment, Cafe Aroma is the hot spot on "The Hill." Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner, along with great snacks and desserts and an assortment of bottled micro-brews and local, artisan wines, indoors or out, on our free Wi-Fi enabled patio deck, the inspiration of Cafe Aroma's "accidental owner" for the last 12 years, Hubert Halkin. Hubert's list of deeds is long, including being an Idyllwild resident for many years, Professor Emeritus and Department Chair of Mathematics at UCSD, a mean bridge player, and all around groovy Frenchman. Not to mention...You won't believe what he can demonstrate table-side with a straw and your Osso Bucco bone! Music is one of the cafe's cornerstones, and features an amazing array of talented musicians, known locally, regionally and nationally. It's no wonder that, among musicians, Cafe Aroma's outdoor stage is known as the Madison Square Garden of Idyllwild! The community of Idyllwild is an eclectic collection of souls, comprised of entrepreneurs, artists of every flavor, hipsters and church-goers, authors and meditators, some really cool, old school jazz cats, and a few belly dancers and ballerinas. Cafe Aroma is the gathering place for everyone, the place to "see and be seen" and features the most dog-friendly patio around. Restaurant, Art Gallery, Social Club and a Home Away From Home...If your home was this cool!

“Relaxing and delicious”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

I was in this small town for three days, and found myself drawn back here more than once. The food was nicely prepared, fresh, and nice flavor combinations. With me atmosphere goes a long way as well, and I found it so relaxing, and such pleasant staff. The menu offered good dishes for most tastes and diet choices.

“LOVE LOVE LOVE!!”

We love to drive up and just have dinner at this place!! The chef is AMAZING!! Sit outdoors on the patio and smell the pines. Enjoy the entertainment they have on some evenings. Food is creative upscale Italian?? Good sauces other than the normal red! Many good wine choices. Pets welcome on the patio also. Homemade bread is a MUST!! Try it - You will LOVE IT!!

“Good food and good jazz.”
Reviewed July 9, 2014

This is the best restaurant in town, so you may need reservations. We sat outside and loved our meal, which consisted of just the basic house salad, a bottle of good wine, and simple spaghetti with meatballs. Plus we split an order of the mushrooms, which I strongly recommend. Great service and live jazz! This is remarkable to find in a "rustic" mountain community. Go there!

“Disappointing”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

We thought this would be a great place because of the reviews, but we should have listened to the locals. My husband and I only ordered appetizers and wine and the bill came to $85 before the tip! The portions were really small and the server must have been a local high schooler. He came to the table when we were first seated and commented surprisingly that we had no place settings yet disappeared and when he finally returned he made the same surprising comment. He kept apologizing for the massive problems that he was incurring and we never saw another individual the entire time. I'm not sure where the manager was but they didn't seem to care about the customers because everyone was pretty much left on their own. Nice atmosphere but it really wasn't worth the money.
