We travel up to Idyllwild regularly, just to get away from it all in San Diego. Each time, we've tried a different place to stay. Well this time, with the Quiet Creek Inn, we've found our home away from home. From now on, we book only with them!!

The cabins are clean, stylishly decorated and enveloped by forest all around. Our cabin (#10) has a small kitchenette with burners, small fridge, microwave, coffee pot, dishes and cooking utensils, pots/pans, etc. The bedroom, bathroom and living room all have their own temperature control. Two Duraflame logs come with the deal too, each night. We had a cozy fire, great meals in town, and it even snowed (in April no less!) so our son had the chance to play in snow. (Nirvana for any 7 year old.!)

Jim was fantastic, and they have a lending library of DVDs, free popcorn and hot chocolate AND Tazo tea, that you can take back to your cabin. They also give you a fantastic sheet of restaurant recommendation. Each restaurant we went to was a home run. We saw more on this trip than we had on all previous trips, just because the information they give out is so helpful and complete.

I cannot recommend this place enough! Thank you Quiet Creek Inn! We'll be back!

We stayed at 3 Bears 12/17-20/2010, and loved it. Can't knock anybody for the weather: rained all 4 days constantly, highly unusual. But it gave us excuse to just relax, read, talk. I did get to see the view out the window of Lily Rock for all of 10 minutes, before clouds came back in. Really an architecturally unique house plus detached apartment, which my college-age son appreciated. The only two negatives (dvd player showed our dvd's in green tint; satelite TV worked great otherwise, and smoke detector "low battery" indicator in master bedroom chirped at us at 3am, easily taken care of) were minor. Would definitely stay here again, in better weather next time. Or snow.

We stayed in cabins 8 and 10 for the nights. The setting is so beautiful and my son enjoyed exploring the grounds and the creek. The cozy barn with the free hot chocolate, popcorn, games, books and huge DVD collection was a big hit also. The inn owners are so helpful and lent us extra large pots from their own kitchen. They also lend out free Adventure passes that are needed for hiking in the area. They also have a great gallery on the premises with local plein air art on display. It snowed while we were at Quiet Creek and it felt like a winter wonderland. This is the best place to stay if you need to get away from it all. It is magical.

We stayed at Winston's retreat, which is a cabin rented by Quiet Creek Inn. Our kids refused to eat near the kitchen for the first 2 eays due to the awful smell coming from the sink and diswasher. The smell only diminished to a tolerable level after we scrubbed the whole kitchen and ran the diswasher (twice). 1 out of the 4 burners didn't work on the stove and the oven still had old baked potatoes left by the previous guests. I was stung by a scorpion at night in the bathroom (I was 9 weeks pregnant at the time). The management's reaction was that it's all my fault. The local ranger station said that scorpions do come in cabins and a warning would be reasonable. They identified the scorpion as a non-venomous kind and I'm fine, however it was still a traumatic experience and all I wanted was the expression of some empathy from the management. Two out of the 4 air conditioners did not work in the cabin at all and we were HOT. The only thing that made our 1 week vacation somewhat enjoyable was the family and friends we were with and the wonderful art camp for our kids.

Marc K, General Manager at Quiet Creek Inn, responded to this reviewResponded February 4, 2014

Dear SabrinaSamantha,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and experiences about Quiet Creek Vacation Rental, the vacation rental by owner cabins formerly managed by Quiet Creek Inn's last owners. The Inn is under new management, separate from the vacation rental business for the last couple of years, and we're catching up on our reviews and wanted to respond to your concerns.

Some of the Inn's repeat guests have stayed at the vacation rentals and shared similar concerns, both about their location, cleanliness and that they were often difficult to manage. As the new owners of the Inn, we can only assume that perhaps this was one of the reasons the former owners decided to separate the two and sell the vacation rentals some years ago. Although the vacation rental still uses the name "Quiet Creek Vacation Rental" and website "quietcreekvacation.com", the two are separate and not related.

Please rest assured that, should you decide to stay at Quiet Creek Inn (which sports ten cabin units on almost seven acres of private Strawberry Creek) your experience will be vastly different. Not only are our units impeccable, but we're upgrading!! Just see the Quiet Creek Inn facebook page for the many upgrade alerts, including Italian memory foam pillows, new bedding, and coming in the next week new spa toiletries. We will continue to improve and enhance the quality of the Inn units while maintaining the charm and unique feel that no other accommodations in Idylliwild have.

While wildlife and critters tend to sometimes be a problem (coyotes roam near our wooded Inn, for example), and no one can guarantee that your visit would be free of them, we hope that you would still come visit Idyllwild again... when you do, we'd love to have you stay at Quiet Creek Inn or give you a tour around the grounds, barn lounge and cabins.

My husband and children ( age 6 and 8) had a wonderful one night stay in a cabin at Quiet Creek Inn. Jim, the owner, could not have been more helpful and welcoming both before and during our stay. The cabin was very comfortable and we found it very convenient to have a kitchen area. The 'living room' open to all guests was a great resource for movies, books and drinks. But what we loved most about our stay were the tranquil, beautiful grounds. Our children loved playing in the creek, lying in the hammocks and spotting squirrels. I am not surprised the Inn has so many repeat guests. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

My husband, 14 month old toddler and I had a beautiful stay at the Quiet Creek Inn. As it was our first time in Idyllwild, we were not sure where to stay. After reading the reviews on Tripadvisor, we decided to stay at this Inn. We were not disappointed. The Inn is located in a beautiful remote area, yet not far from the town at all (2 minute drive). There is a beautiful creek that runs along the Inn. Our little one had a blast running along the creek! The rooms are tastefully furnished and very clean. We had a beautiful deck overlooking the creek. The owner of the Inn, Jim, was also incredible accommodating, which we greatly appreciated, moreso as were traveling with a young one. An early check in and extended check out was not a problem. We look forward to returning!
