If you're considering an Idyllwild overnighter, and don't mind a rustic, bare-bones cabin retreat, this is your ticket. Rooms are cozy and comfortable, with oversized wood-burning fireplaces and handy kitchenettes. Major benefit of this inn is its location. Walk to most everything the small town offers from here. Prices extremely reasonable. Nice front desk people. Having taken many day-trips to Idyllwild over the last 30 years from the San Diego area, this would be my choice as to where to stay for a couple. If a larger group, consider booking one of the vacation cabin booking venues. All cabins are set amongst huge pines. Very serene. Place to have a cup of coffee and watch the gray squirrels scurry outside your deck on the quiet morning.

Room Tip: We were in 16 with 2 people, so son slept on sofa bed. Beds pretty soft, but comfortable. Basicall...

We stayed here for one night for a party we attended in the proximity of Idyllwild. I made an error when call for the reservation, and called back a few hour later to see if I could transfer the date, and they were Very accommodating in doing so for me. We were past the refund date, so I really appreciated this. We really liked the location, able to walk to town, though we had to leave before the shops opened. We stayed in one of the theme rooms. Very clean, though a little updating is required I believe, especially the carpeting. Towels thick and clean. Bedding a little worn I thought. Bed pretty comfortable. A bit of noise at night from a restaurant or bar. We will return due to location, but probably try a cabin maybe. Very friendly owners or employees, not sure which. Heater worked well,

My husband & I where there for the weekend of the tree lighting ceremony, it was simply Beautiful.
We did a little bar hopping and best thing about that was we didn't have to drive. Everything was right there ,kinda like front row tickets to a special event. Cabins are cute, especially the adults only cabins ,no kids or dogs allowed.
But on the other side there are family cabins that also is pet friendly. Everyone was very very nice, including the locals...it's our newest little get away , from San Diego.

We loved staying here in one of the theme rooms. We hope to return and rent a cabin sometime. We have to admit theme rooms can be loud. The walls aren't very insulated. I think a cabin may be better, especially if they have a stand alone one where you don't share walls. But part of the problem we had was the couple next to us had a screaming child who started yelling, stomping and banging at 630 am and never stopped even after we left for breakfast at 9am. (yes, we listened to him for 2 1/2 hours straight!) But I hope that's not normally a problem as children are NOT allowed in theme rooms. It's supposed to be for adults only. I know this was the fault of the parents checking in not revealing they had a kid, more so than the hotel itself. They have a WONDERFUL staff. They supply wood for the fist night. We bought wood for the 2nd night. The room was so cozy and fun and clean. I'd definitely stay again. Do expect if you're anywhere on the property to the left of the office, you'll hear a lot of noise from town until about 10pm but then it all stops. (First night we heard a band playing, second night we just heard happy people at the coffee shop or wine bar nearby.) It's the most centrally located you can get. The in room fridge and microwave are very helpful!

Room Tip: If you are getting a cabin, try not to be to the left of the office. It's too close to the resta...

The rooms are cute and quaint. This motel is located within walking distance of lots of shops and restaurants in downtown Idyllwild. Unfortunately we visited Idyllwild when the weather was quite hot. We had all the windows open and the ceiling fan going 24/7, but the room was still too hot.

Room Tip: Choose your favorite room décor.

Nice, clean cabin tucked into the woods. Reminded me of being at camp when I was a kid. We were in a 1 bedroom cabin w a kitchenette (#16). You weren't going to make a big meal in it, but hey, who cares, you're on vacation! Very dog friendly. Walk to tons of shops and restaurants. Grocery store across the street. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was it was hot when we were there (95-97; not their fault) and they only had a fan; no A/C. Unfortunately the fan was tucked away in an inconspicuous spot. We didn't find it until our last day. Family run. Very friendly staff.

Room Tip: stay away from the cabin on the street.

I just spend a short stay at Idyllwild Inn with my children. We loved it. The cabin (#12) had two rooms with a queen and a twin in each room. The cabin has the fastest wifi I have ever used in lodging. There is a playground and volleyball court near the cabins. The bathroom was clean and the mountain water fresh and hot. The kitchen was well supplied and free ground coffee was available. Since it was in the town, we were able to walk over to the Rustic Theatre and watch Man of Steel (so-so movie) and then walk the 3 minutes back to the cabin at 10 pm. The kids were amazed at the number of stars they could see in the mountains.
