“More like Gold than Silver!”

This lodge in Idyllwild is on a quiet street not far from the center of town. We have been staying in Idyllwild for a number of years and this is the first time we've been to Silver Pines, but it won't be the last! The prices are reasonable and the rooms are cute, cozy and have Wifi. You have options of larger cabins as well as rooms that will sleep two or more than two. All rooms have refrigerators and microwaves and most have full kitchens. The lodge sits above the banks of the Strawberry Creek, which amazingly, even during this Southern California drought was still running. Because it is at the end of the street overlooking the creek, you feel as though you are away from the town and can fully enjoy natures backyard, yet you are not far from restaurants and shops.

The Lodge has quite a history, being the town's first theater as well as a number of other things, and it is interesting to look at the pictures on the walls and see it as it once was. It has a "great room" which has a beautiful fireplace, a computer you can use, pianos, comfortable chairs, tables, and and sofas. There are current newspapers you can read should you want to know what is going on outside of your little paradise, and you can borrow DVD's, games, books, cards etc. In fact if you ask they will try to accommodate you however they can. There was even a basket of beautiful oranges grown on the owner's mother's property out for our enjoyment. There is a large deck with tables and chairs and a BBQ you can use. The ice maker is conveniently located there along with the ice buckets. There is also a Koi pond with small waterfalls that add to your viewing and listening pleasure, with tables and chairs around it. Perfect for enjoying a glass of wine and watching the dogs and fish frolic, as the facility is pet friendly. In fact there were two friendly Labradors on the premises that delighted in jumping into the pond.

Inside our room the innkeepers had provided wine glasses, a wine opener, plates, bowls, silverware, and a coffee maker with real coffee (not those nasty packets). In the dresser drawers were extra blankets and pillows, as well as some magazines and even an extension cord, which we always bring but many don't think to include in their suitcase. One of the things I was most impressed with was the binder on the dresser that had almost every bit of information you would need for your stay including the owners opinions and extra bits of info most would not think to include. The Who, Where, What, When, and Why of Idy. A really thorough and well thought out guide to Idyllwild and the amenities of their Lodge. There is also a journal that you can use to jot down your reflections of your stay. In the office, there are 2 for 1 coupons for the town's wine shop Idyll Awhile, various guides and maps, and they will lend you an Adventure pass for the various trails and sights that require one. They really have put a lot of thought and time in creating a delightful experience for you.

If you go, the only thing you should remember to bring would be paper towels (a handy convenience anywhere) and peanuts to feed the squirrels. You can buy those at the local market. They have peanuts and other critter food in barrels at the Fairway in town. Idy is a squirrel friendly community! Enjoy!

Room Tip: This is a rustic lodge so there are no elevators. If you have a lot of luggage (like I always do) or...

Our weekend could not have been more perfect!!! Outstanding hospitality, starting with a happy greeting from the owners dogs!!! Cozy cabin with a roaring fire to keep us warm. Beautiful property!! Walking distance to town, hiking along the creek or they have a game & DVD exchange at the lodge!! We will definitely be back again!! Fabulous!!!!

I have stayed at the Silver Pines Lodge many times, in many seasons. The rooms and cabins are comfortable and cosy, with fireplaces and antiques. There is a common room with a huge fireplace, comfortable leather sofas and wonderful collectible decor. The lodge and its cabins are in a cluster of towering pines and oaks, with a stream at the foot of the property, with a sundeck by the stream. It feels like summer camp used to feel, rustic, relaxed, fun in the midst of beautiful nature. I have enjoyed it while hiking the mountains in the summer, seeing the autumn leaves, or watching the snowflakes come down. It's a wonderful place. I also recommend the other lodge under the same ownership, Creekstone Inn.

Room Tip: The cabins are fully outfitted with kitchens.

If you're in need of detaching from the "excitement" of the city, then I strongly recommend Silver Pines Lodge. More specifically, cabin Vista. A modest little 1 bedroom, the likes of which we never even see. The living room offers two large futons which we literally live in the entire time. It has a wonderful sliding glass door with views of forest, squirrels, rabbits, quail, starlings, ...... It's a virtual T.V. set for the dog who sits there mesmerized. With a full kitchen bath, etc, we're all set. It's quiet, quaint and friendly. Been here 3 times already (always same cabin). It's within walking distance of town, yet close enough to the outskirts. And staff are very friendly & accommodating. Highly recommend.

I booked a room for my very first vacation getaway with my beautiful girlfriend and our two dogs. Chris was very helpful on the phone but even more in person. Our room was spectacular, the lodge was warm, romantic, serene and very dog friendly. Abby and I will be coming back very soon. We loved Silver Pines and it made our first getaway a very romantic one. Thanks Chris.....Regards, Scott &Abby

We tried out the Silver Pines Lodge for a couple of days in April and loved it. We also loved the town of Idyllwild, with its shops, restaurants and stores, and great hiking trails. Our room had a microwave, fridge, sitting area, balcony and nice bed. Very reasonably priced. The lodge also had a great greeting room with comfy chairs, games to borrow, movies, etc.

Part of the perfection was the waking to inches of snow on the ground with it still falling. Another part of perfection is that we love fireplaces and kept it roaring.

It was amazing to be at such a reasonably priced location with my giant dog Dunkin welcomed. Dunkin made friends with Chris' dog Sully and experienced his first time ever in the snow.

The cabin was charming and the kitchen we used a bunch. There is a BBQ on site and hikes nearby. Town is a short walk. The main lodge and coy pond picturesque and welcoming.

Chris and her son had to help us get our car out - but that was part of the fun - we wished they hadn't been booked up or we would have gladly paid to stay another night. We will be back!
