“GREAT family hotel”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

Amazing staff that were so outgoing, friendly, helpful and really helped make our stay memorable! They went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed. They made us feel as if we were the only guests in the hotel. We came for our daughters 11th birthday and trip to Disneyland. They were awesome making sure we knew where we were going and the best routes to take. The bed felt a little hard the first night, but after that it was great! The pool/spa wonderful and right across from Huntington Beach! The breakfast buffet was outstanding! We will DEFINATELY stay here again. It is a GREAT family hotel!

I spent a long weekend at this Hilton and was treated well in peasant surroundings. The near-by construction was no problem as it seemed to be moving very slowly. I appreciated that, like French hotels, there was a Lobby and then a First Floor with the amenities of restaurant, pool, shop, etc. Arrivals and departures were a floor away from leisure!

Room Tip: Most any room has a view of the ocean, but my south side room gave me splendid view of the sunset.

Beware major construction is happening in the property next door. It starts 7am to 4pm each weekday ie Monday thru to Friday. It also affects most rooms (at Hilton) which face the pool and the sunset view rooms. The work being done is jack hammering concrete and even with glass doors closed the noise is loud enough to wake you up and also makes it impossible to use the balcony between 7am-4pm.

The construction looks like it will be still going on late into 2014, so check with hotel if the room you intend to book is affected by the construction work.

We moved from our sunset view room and the rest of our stay was very pleasant. Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean and modern. Although we paid for valet parking I think the $30 per night charge is over the top and should be halved!!! WiFi should also be provided for a nominal charge or free. Would I stay there again - probably not.

Room Tip: Before booking check with hotel if the room you intend to book will be affected by the construction...

I've traveled all over the world and one of the brand name hotels I had come to depend on was the Hilton up until my last stay this month at The Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach California. Upon check-in they gave us a room on the second floor which was so noisy we couldn't sleep in spite of the fact that my Hilton Honors Profile calls for a room on the highest level possible. Then after they changed us to a room on the eleventh floor everything went berserk in the room first, the air conditioner wasn't working and after the engineers spent an hour or more trouble shooting they decided to remove the control panel and found none of the wires were connected! Next the toilet overflowed, then the refrigerator which comes with the room wasn’t working and spoiled all of our fresh fruit and probiotics last the water in the shower would not heat up and my poor wife ended up taking a cold shower which she hate and to top it all off the front desk personnel had a serious attitude problem! This is one Hilton which we will not be coming to again!

Room Tip: When checking in make sure you inspect the room before unpacking! If anything is not working or does...

The ONLY reason I'm not giving this great property an "EXCELLENT" rating is because the menu selection at the (only) restaurant is not as broad as I'd expected a Hilton property to offer. But first, the positivies. The location - deitrectly opposite the famed Huntington Beach (and one block down from the iconic Huntington Pier) can't be faulted. Even the Pacific Coastal Highway traffic can't be heard through the balncony doors. Next the property itself: it has 12 floors (we're on the third) all angled to the beach and the Pacific Ocean, immaculately maintained, with super-sized twin beds (or king beds) with pillows that you luxuriously sink down in to. The rooms are beautifully proportioned with all the accroutrements you'd expect, including a cooffee/tea making machine, mini bar (the Surf Hero shop on site also sells all manner of mini bottles and splits), large flat-screen TV, wall safe, bathrobes and much more besides. The balcony comfortably fits two outdoors chairs and the work desk is large and comfortable. There is a large swimming pool and a qwell-equipped fitness room for those who want to mainatain or enhance their fitness levels. The major plus is the staff: they couldn't be more helpful, friendly and efficientat all levels from the Duty Manager to the bus boys. So why not give it the "Excellent" rating? Only because a Hilton Restaurant, in my view, needs to offer more than a preponderant emphasis on burgers and small appetizers. True, their seafood selection is good, but their wine list, scrolled down on a helpful Tablet, is expensive. They do offer some pasta dishes and a steak or two but really not much else, and certainly not at the level to which I'm used at Hilton properties in Europe, Asia, Australia and South America. In case you think I'm quibbling, I readily accept that this is a beach resort, with all that that entails, and sophisticated dining may not be something that is de rigueur. But it does have an extensive Conference clientele and that, I should have thought, might have justified a more interesting, varied, and adventurous cuisine than the one currently on offer. But don't let this one negative put you off: it's a warm and welcoming hostelry, and in a uaser-friendly location, equidistant between Disneyland and downtown LA, but with an ambience wholly its own!

Room Tip: I'd ask for a floor higher than the third to get away from the highway traffic (though the rooms...

Gorgeous property and a great location! Able to walk everywhere - 1 block off the beach (no hotels are actually on the beach) and just a few blocks from a really cute town. Friendly staff (provided to go coffees / security guard said hello etc.and provided a later checkout and arranged a taxi with follow up via phone). ....

Love that over breakfast you can look out on the pool (which overlooks the beach) - with the firepits and sit outside with the heaters.

Hotel rooms are also well equipped - mini fridge, gorgeous bathroom, balcony. Would stay again anytime!

Room Tip: Oceanview with a pool view is the best; not all oceanview rooms overlook the pool ,...
