for the price and location this was a good stay, nothing fancy, free parking, close to the main area, 5 minute walk if that.

I stayed at this property in July and had lots of problems. I have been attempting to speak with MR. KEN PATEL, the General Manager for nearly 4 months to discuss my stay. Mr. Patel's voice mail box is always too full to accept new messages and my attempts to leave a message for him via the front desk have been unsuccessful. Unfortunately I believe Mr. Patel's poor management at the top has trickled down to rest of the staff at this property.

You really should avoid staying here at all costs. Is is a great location but if you have any problems they will be ignored and you will never be able to speak with anyone who can help you.

The location of this hotel is great, but it is not worth the hassle. I vacationed with teenagers and was visiting a daughter who attend college in Southern California. We were immediately harrassed by the front desk emplyee, who informed us that my daughter could not visit us at the hotel. The hotel has a strict "no visitors" policy. We ignored their rude request, checking into our room before dinner We were harassed again by the front desk and security saying that there are cameras on us and that they have been watching us. We were informed that having my daughter visit with us was a violating of our contract and that we would be asked to leave We found another hotel and left on our own. I did not want to be spyed upon by the security cameras at our every move, nor did I want to spend time at an unwelcoming hotel Don't stay here!

I stayed at a lower end motel close to the Best Western the year before because the reviews of this hotel were so bad. I was disappointed so THIS year I decided to "risk" the Best Western and was very pleasantly surprised. Because I was traveling on a budget I booked a room on the ground floor. It was very clean and updated with a balcony that looked out onto a grassy area and was very private. The bed was very comfortable and the staff no matter what time of day was extremely polite and curteous. Another bonus was the continental breakfast...I expected some danishes and coffee but it also included bagels and bread to toast, two different types of juices, four kinds of cereal and a variety of condiments. Please people, give this nice hotel a break. It was an affordable alternative right on the beach.

My boyfriend and I wanted to get away for a weekend and decided to book a room at this hotel since it was so close to the pier and Main Street. When we arrived there was no parking available in the lot and we had to park half a mile away. This was our first encounter with the staff at this Best Western. The man on staff was extremely rude and didn't care.
While checking in we were told that they would be watching us and would know if we tried to throw parties. This statement alone blew me away. Since when is that the opening greeting to guests? It seems as though they dislike younger people staying at this hotel after reading through the reviews.
Our room was decent. We had issues trying to get more towels that weekend-as they said we shouldn't have needed any more for the amount of time we were there. Ridiculous.
All in all...I wish I would have read the reviews of this hotel before booking it. The location is great, but in all honesty, the staff of the hotel were so rude it wasn't worth it. I would have rather been a couple miles away and had better service.
I also recommend that if you are younger looking to find a hotel-this is not it. Reading through reviews it seemed as though people who were younger got discriminated against.

No complaints about the location or the rooms but the price wasn’t cheap and the service was the worst we came across in our 2 weeks in California.
Price included breakfast, served until 9.30 a.m but the breakfast area only had 2 tables so there was a queue for places to sit. The breakfast area was closed at 9.25 before we managed to get a table.
The hotel has nice roof top sun bathing area and hot tub which opens at 10 am. To access the area you need to collect the key from reception.
We sent half an hour on the roof top and then wanted to get some breakfast (which we couldn’t get earlier at the hotel). I asked the front desk if we could nip out to get something to eat and return to the roof top later. The front desk, in-between answering calls (why is a person phoning more important than the person in front of you?), we were told we couldn’t have the key again because it was our check out date and other people may wish to use the facility. I explained that there was nobody else using the facility and we would leave if the area became crowded. The front desk appeared really happy to come back with a “computer says no” response.

We stayed for several nights in a room on the 3rd floor with a partial ocean view from the balcony. We followed the tips by reviewers and requested the 3rd floor. The view of the beach was spectacular and peaceful from the balcony. The king size bed was comfortable. The room was clean, updated and extremely comfortable. It had a refrigerator and a microwave. This is a newer property and everything was sparkling clean and updated. The spa on the roof was heavenly. The staff was very professional and accommodating. We enjoyed the continental breakfast on the balcony every morning watching the surfers. Coffee was great! Parking underground was free. The hotel is very well located across from the beach and short distance to Main Street and Pier. A wonderful place for a relaxing vacation. Could not have found a better place. Rate of $119 - $140 per night was very reasonable considering the location, balcony and view!!! The surrounding area is very nice - beautiful, well maintained homes with a charming Main Street and pier. Highly recommend this hotel if you enjoy a clean, modern, reasonable hotel that has a wonderful location without any surprises. Yes there is an oil well next door, but who cares?
