Wish this restaurant was in my home city. Have eaten here a few years ago, so this was our second visit to this German restaurant which is about 3,000 miles from home.

It was Sunday lunch, and we had eaten a large breakfast. I had a cup of Irish Stew and my companion had one Bratwurst with red cabbage ($7) along with some German beer.

The walls might be "old and tired" but the food and atmosphere is still enticing.

Last visited over 20 years ago when we lived I. The area and had fond memories of a nice family experience with a restaurant filled to the brim with happy customers enjoying good company, great German food and beer in a festive atmosphere. We were visiting the area and invited several people to join us. Made reservations and showed up to an almost empty establishment at 7pm. There was no host or hostess, just a sign indicating to seat yourself. We walked in and saw two people at the bar and two other people sitting at a table with several dozen empty tables. It looked tried and old with no sign of life. We waited a few minutes and saw no employees. Actually then left and found a more lively place.

The restaurant is in a Bavarian themed village near a shopping mall, near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and the 405 freeway. They have a good selection of German beers, and the food is authentic German dishes. The selections are very good. For example, the menu allows you to pick one or two sausages from a list, and side dishes from a list, so you can "mix and match" to your tastes. They also have typical entrees, with the same choices of side dishes. I went on a Tuesday night, the day after the 3 day Presidents' Day weekend, and it was not busy at all, perhaps because people had done enough eating out on the long weekend. Service was prompt and attentive.

We stumbled on the restaurant by accident and it was a nice find. There is a German market next door. Food was delicious and ample servings. The pork shank was large and ample for 2.
