What can you say about a Denny's - consistently cheap, slow service & blah food. Jerry's is no different.

In fact, it looks like it used to be an old Denny's. Nothing's changed. A worn out building & facility serving truck stop food.

Desperate for a good breakfast before our long trip home, we happily wandered in to Jerry's in Hollister. Jenny was the perfect server. The coffee was excellent, one of the top 5 I've had. I usually take cream but it was delicious just black! Take that starbucks! Portions were nice and reasonably priced. Only complaint, it was freezing inside the restaurant.

I attend a poultry show in Hollister every January. I always eat at Jerry's. They have good, basic food, the waitresses are very friendly, and so are the other customers. This time I had a New York steak dinner from the senior menu that was very good. The next morning I ordered scrambled eggs and steak, no potatoes, no bread. The waitress said, "Oh, that's not enough. Let me bring you tomatoes, or cottage cheese, or maybe fruit?" "No thanks," I said. "Well," she suggested, "how about grilled mushrooms or onions on that steak?" That perked my interest. "How about both?" I asked. When my breakfast was delivered, the savory aroma wafted through the restaurant. People who were eating pancakes were envious. It was the most delicious breakfast I've had in a long time. This is not a gourmet restaurant by any means, but they do a very good job with plain food.
