Sometimes, you don't feel like dressing up when you're hungry. Sometimes, you just want to graze on bites of this and that, and share small plates while you sip a cocktail or wine, and chat.
The great thing about Zane's is that it's casual, but really very nice. It feels upscale beachy without being posh or snooty. A major factor in this for us is their No Corkage Fee policy. Some restaurants seem to manifest attitude via their servers when you bring your own. We've never, ever experienced that at Zane's, bringing our own wine numerous times. (We do, however, make it a point to add to the gratuity, calculating the tip as though we DID purchase the wine, in our own acknowledgment that the server SHOULD be recognized for the extra service to us.)
We've thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary dips with freshly baked, to-die-for bread to start out each meal - FREE, and worth a trip to the restaurant alone. We've had the calamari (outstanding) and light, fresh ahi appetizer, as well. The Caesar salad is delicious, but the dressing may be a bit heavy for some tastes. I loved the arugula salad. The pizza with arugula, pesto, goat cheese and pine nuts is delicious, too.
Favorite entree is the Chicken Piccata - perfectly balanced sauce - classic. Also outstanding: any of the raviolis, the grilled salmon, and the skirt steak. This place really does offer something for everyone (including burgers, though we've never ordered them.)
Give Zane's a try: it will work for families earlier in the evening, for date night, or for a group celebrating at the beach - and bring your own wine and save a bundle.
