“Magnificent idyllic setting”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

It's always such a pleasant surprise when photos can't do justice to the beauty of a place. I could sit on the porch all day it was so pretty, although there is so much to do and enjoy in the magnificent Russian River Valley of Sonoma County. The house is over 130 years old and is so quaint and lovely. We chose the Blueberry room and were very happy with our choice (however I think probably everyone else was happy with their choice). I liked the large size of the Blueberry and I also liked being across from the dining room (so in the morning I brought our morning coffee back to the room without having to go outside to get to the dining room). By the way, the coffee was great. Rita loves good coffee and we really enjoyed what she selected. I think other people may have enjoyed their separate entrances and porches so choosing a room is really dependent on what you like. I would suggest talking to Dane or Rita to ask them about the rooms if you can't decide. For instance, if you have heavy luggage, it's easier to have some of the other rooms rather than the Blueberry room because of stairs. However, even though we had substantial luggage, we didn't care and loved our room. Dane and Rita provide a lovely afternoon wine and cheese hour on the porch. You see the golden light of the sun as the day ends and it is just stunning. Both the lovely breakfasts and the wine hour were very social and you get to know the other guests without anything feeling forced. We're definitely coming back here next time we're in the county.

My wife and I along with my son and his fiancee spent three wonderful days and nights at the Raford Inn Bed and Breakfast in late August. Dane and Rita are marvelous hosts and their Inn is lovely in all respects. They and their staff make you feel you are a part of their family when you first walk in the door. Our rooms, the Blueberry and Sage were nicely appointed with period pieces and very comfortable. Multi-course breakfasts were prepared with fresh vegetables and fruits from their gardens. The grounds are just as you see them on their website - beautiful views of vineyards and palms. We just can't say enough about how friendly our hosts, Dane and Rita are. We got to know them over complimentary wines (from local wineries) and cheese each afternoon on their spacious porch. For you first time visitors, they are a great source of information on all things Sonoma. Dane's brief wine tour of his vineyard is a fun finish to your stay. Especially if you love Pinot, make this your headquarters for winery visits in the Russian River Valley.

Room Tip: The Blueberry room has windows on two walls and gets a lovely breeze.

The Raford Inn is definitely a 5-star Bed & Breakfast. We just completed an extended stay, and it was FANTASTIC!! The owners, Dane and Rita are just AWESOME. They make you feel special by treating you as a member of their family. It was the perfect location to spend enjoying the sights, tasting fine wines, and relaxing in the beautiful Russian River Valley area. Dane, Rita and their AMAZING staff went out of their way to accommodate our special dietary needs. The late afternoon-early evening wine tastings, complete with hors d'oeuvres, on their STATELY porch overlooking picturesque vineyards were EXCEPTIONAL. We loved our stay so much, we've already booked an extended stay for next summer.

We stayed at the Inn for 2 nights in early August 2012 and it was by far the best place we stayed at during our visit to San Francisco and Sonoma wine country. The hosts Dane and Rita could not have been more congenial and helpful with recommendations for restaurants, wineries and any other fun pursuit. the breakfast was sumptuous and homemade. The wine reception each evening was great fun and attracted all the guests leading to lively conversation and sharing of holiday experiences. we would go back to the area just to stay at the Inn. A real treasure not to be missed.

Room Tip: we had the angelica suite which had a view to die for out across the nearby vineyards and its own ve...

The Raford Inn is my new "secret" place. That is where I will go to get away from the rest of the world and soak in the peace & quiet that surrounds me.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in August and it was an absolutely amazing experience! This was our first Bed & Breakfast experience and we loved it! It is truly a gem! And the inn keepers, Rita and Dane are delightful! I am having difficulty putting into words how incredible our experience was. It felt like home away from home. Rita & Dane made us feel like family and the other guest were wonderful also. We had a great group of people and we enjoyed every moment of it.

The Raford Inn sits on a beautiful vineyard that Dane maintains himself. If you stay here, which really you should (no need to look for another B&B), then you have the option the take a tour of the vineyard on the last day before you leave. Dane pours his heart and soul into the vineyard and he will tell you everything there is to know about the vines, grapes and wine making process. He was such a joy! I just wanted to adopt him and call him grandpa!

The inn is very well kept. The room we stayed in was the Lavender room and it was just as I expected, lovely! Although I must say it's much nicer in person than in the pictures. In fact, the entire place is much nicer in person. I especially like that it's located approximately 15 minutes outside of the city of Healdsburg, therefore, it is nice and peaceful with the most breathtaking views. I enjoyed my morning on the porch drinking a hot cup of tea and reading a book. Breakfast was delicious and we had a great time during the evening wine & cheese tasting. This one is a keeper! Dane and Rita have set a very high standard. I doubt we'll find another jewel like this one. We will definitely return!

We had the most wonderful stay at the Raford Inn. Dane & Rita, along with the young innkeepers were great. The Blueberry room was large, yet so cozy. There was a different breakfast every morning that would delicious. The wine tastings and pourings each night enlighten our palates for the local vintages. Our hosts gave great recommendations for restaurants, as well as passes for free tastings at the local wineries. Coffee with the hummingbirds on the porch each day was like being in Tuscany, as the house overlooks the vineyard. We will definitely return in the future. I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else in this part of Sonoma county.

Room Tip: Any room will be great.

We actually picked the Raford based on Trip Advisor recommendations. We spent 5 great nights with Rita and Dane and loved every minute. Highlights included getting up early (east coasters) and watching the work in the vineyards, super fantabulous breakfasts, Tastings in the evening and just so accommodating. We stayed in sage and blueberry. They were both well thought out with tasteful furnishings. The highlight of the stay was Dane's vineyard tour at the end of the stay. Two big thumbs up.

Room Tip: blueberry is on the front, Sage on the back. Noise was not an issue. Sage bigger with cool double...
