This is.a Classically restored Victorian Inn that has been renovated beautifully. Large rooms and beautiful bathrooms overlooking the Lutyens style gardens surrounding the Property. Impeccable service and congeniality within walking distance of the Healdsburg Plaza shops & dining. Q

This inn has really nice reviews but we found it to be very old and in great need of updating. The rooms are very small, ours didn't even have a shower. Our bed was broken, the upolstery in back of the bed was stained and there were nails sticking out of the wall. It was a hot weekend and the air conditioner in the house was broken. The breakfast was fine and the person who checked us in was nice but for the cost, it wasn't worth it. Maybe the owners are having freinds stay there and write the reviews, because we did not have a five star stay. The Best Western was probably a better value.

My fiancé and I stayed at the Calderwood Inn in early June, and had a fantastic time. Mary, the innkeeper was warm, friendly, and very helpful with our winery/food/hiking questions. The happy hour on the porch every night was a great time, and every breakfast we had there was top notch. We'll be staying at the Calderwood Inn again.

My husband and I stayed there for two nights in late May and loved everything about it.
The house was a gem from times past but at the same time very clean and fitted with modern day amenities. The rooms and communal areas were incredibly charming, decorated with antiques but my favourite spot was the porch overlooking part of the gardens and a quiet street.
Mary and Kendra were absolutely lovely and made the best breakfasts to kich start your day.
The overall atmosphere was very relaxed and nice and it was a pleasure staying there whether you're looking for privacy or to exhange a word or two with other guests at the porch over wine.
Also, it's only a 10 minute pleasant walk from the central town square of Healdsburg.
There is no doubt that we will go back!

My wife, Terri and Welsh Terrier, Bessie enjoyed two really great nights at Calderwood. The suite was expansive with all the amenities expected of a first-class inn. Our hosts, Mary and Kendra were exceptional - helpful and friendly. We had to take Bessie to the vet for sore Paul and Kendra drove to pick us up on the way back. We will definitely return the next time in Healdsburg.

Room Tip: Ask for the "bottom floor suite" with separate entrance. It's pet friendly.

My husband surprised me for my birthday by taking me to this little gem right in the middle of downtown Healdsburg. We go up to Healdsburg to cycle, and have stayed at a couple of other B&B's, but this is the first time we stayed at the Calderwood Inn. Although it doesn't look like much from the street, it really is exquisite. The grounds were originally designed by John Muir who was the best friend of the owner. The house is old and beautifully painted and maintained.

My husband and I stayed in one of the suites which had its own entrance and little garden area. The room had a full kitchen that looked like it was from the 50's. How quaint is that? And the people who work there are just the nicest and most hospitable. Every day at 4:30 they serve wine and refreshments on their amazingly beautiful porch. We met people from all over, and it's surprising how quickly you can strike up friendships under these conditions. It reminded me of a castle we stayed in in Italy and everyday we had happy hour with the other guests.

The breakfast was of course delicious and they were quite accommodating to dietary restrictions. They even had gluten free toast to offer my husband. We love Calderwood Inn and look forward to returning as soon as possible. Thanks to everyone who made my birthday stay very special.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask about the suites -- they are so large and roomy and very well appointed.

A lovely house with fantastic grounds. I would stay here and never leave if they let me. The staff is super and will do anything you ask to make your visit work. We will be back. We spent hours sitting in the various gardens sipping wine. We will be returning with our lovely Goldeb Doodle next time as they are pet friendly

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Known on the California and Sonoma County Landmarks Registry as the John Miller House, this historic Queen Anne Victorian was built in 1902. Miller was a prominent fruit grower, packer and dehydrator in the early 1900s. He was also one of the first to make a commercial business of marketing dehydrated fruit. Among Miller's claims to fame is that he was the first provider to the U.S. Military of dehydrated foods. Known as K-rations during WW I and MREs today, Miller was cited by the military for "feeding the troops during WW I". (1) Miller and his wife were, like many prominent citizens of the community, anxious to furnish their home lavishly. The home is reputed to be the first in Healdsburg with two bathrooms, with indoor plumbing upstairs and downstairs. The noted horticulturist, Luther Burbank, was a good friend and assisted in the design and development of the original landscape at the front of the home, some of which remains today. The large cedar, cypress, and redwood heritage trees were planted by Burbank over 100 years ago. The lush grounds have been accented with rose bushes and numerous flowering shrubs. The same archaeological report from Sonoma State University indicates that some of the first plantings of some of Burbank's new species were planted on the Miller property. Sadly, the location and botanical name of the plants were never recorded. It is unknown if they remain on the property today. The home remained in the Miller family until the late 1930s and was a private residence until the early 1980s when it became a Bed and Breakfast. The inn has undergone extensive restoration over the years. Beautiful hand-silk screened period wall and ceiling papers accent the spacious common areas and some guest rooms. The papers are produced by Bradbury & Bradbury of Benicia, CA and are based on designs of William Morris, a prominent textile designer of the mid- to late 1800s.The formal, yet welcoming rooms include a spacious parlor with fireplace-the perfect place to enjoy the morning paper or a board game on a quiet afternoon. The spacious dining room that seats up to 14 showcases original wainscoting and built-in china cabinet and bench. The large antique table is where guests dine on Calderwood's signature gourmet breakfasts. The covered front porch with its antique wicker furniture and lacquered floor beckons you to enjoy the lush grounds, review the activities of your day or curl up with a good book. The porch is often used by local wineries who frequently co-host our complimentary evening wine hour. All nine guest rooms have private baths. Each room is decorated differently to incorporate an extensive collection of beautiful, yet comfortable period ... more   less
