“Fabulous Stay at Bella Villa Messina!”
Reviewed March 9, 2009

Just got back from enjoying a wonderful weekend at Wine Barrel Tating in Healdsburg,CA. I was also celebrating my birthday which was an added celebration. What made out trip to Healdsburg the best weekend in all the years to coming to wine country was out stay at Bella Villa Messina. My husband and I can't say enough about the excellent hospitality by owners Jerry and Harold. Not only did we have a beautiful room to stay in and enjoy the beautiful view from their Villa their attention to detail was absolutely wonderful. Our first day there was the aroma of breakfast being made by Jerry. He is a master at making people feel at home and also an expert at wines in that area. We got a list from him and every one of the wineries was everything he said it would be. Otherwise it would be hit and miss for my husband and I and we saved so much time going to the aboslute best wineries in that area. We would definitely stay again with Jerry after we swore we would never go to another bed and breakfast again. The Bella Villa Messina is beautiful and very quiet with beautiful scenery surrounding all sides. It is a must for those who want to feel special and enjoy a nice weekend away from home.

We spent 3 nights in the Burgandy Room. We felt right at home in the beautiful surroundings. Our hosts spoiled us with gourmet cooking and special attention. The other guests were all friendly and we ended up making friends and traveling as a group to the winerys. We loved our stay so much we booked next year before we left for four days instead of three!

Our stay at Bella Messina could not have been more perfect. The house is beautiful and spotless. The breakfast was delicious, and our host Jerry was friendly, fun, and very knowledgeable. He helped us pick out the best wineries to vist, and recommended unique and wonderful restaurants. We will definately be going back to Bella Villa Messina!!!

What a wonderful and comfortable place. The house is magnificent and the breakfasts are out of this world. My wife and I have stayed in several B&B's and this tops them all. Layed back, no schedule to adhere to and the most knowledgeable hosts. They know the area like the back of their hand and will drop everything to make reservations to ensure you're happiness. We have finally found a hone away from home for our visits to California and the wine country.Jerry and Herald are most gracious and have done a wonderful job putting this house together.

“Wow” was the first thing that came out of our mouths, when Bella Villa Messina first came into view. My husband and I, when planning our 24th anniversary trip, had looked at the photographs and virtual tours on the website, but the house was even more impressive in person, and the views were to die for. In fact, it was the best view I’ve had from a place I stayed, since I rented a mountainside villa overlooking the bay in St. John.
Jerry welcomed us at the door with a smile, gave us the keys, a brief tour and a delicious glass of red wine. We immediately felt at ease and struck up a conversation with some other guests that were also staying at the B&B. We were awestruck by the myriad of art pieces and antiques and how they fit so well together. I was also impressed by how well the floor plan was suited for a bed and breakfast. The dining room, living room and deck are large enough for sizeable gatherings, but there is also a cozy parlor and many small seating areas throughout, allowing for more private relaxation.

We stayed in the largest guestroom in the house, the Asti room. Not only is it huge and beautifully decorated, but it has wonderful cross ventilation and fantastic views due to the large number of windows and private deck. The Asti also has a massive sparkling clean bathroom (my husband thought the floor was wet, it was so shiny) with a Jacuzzi and double-head shower. The bed was very comfortable and made with quality linens and the towels were plush as were the robes they furnished for our use. The other guestrooms we looked in at, Burgundy and French, were smaller but were also very nice.

We loved the breakfasts! Every morning we awoke smelling bacon from our bedrooms. Jerry and his cook prepared a wonderful spread of food every morning (we were there for 3 breakfasts). We particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit, the blueberry pancakes (Jerry’s grandma’s recipe) and the Hawaiian French toast. As a guest, you can choose to eat breakfast anytime between 8:30AM and 10:30AM, but we couldn’t wait to go eat, once we smelled the bacon.

Even more than the breakfasts, we enjoyed the hospitality we were shown by Jerry and Harold. Both are very knowledgeable about Sonoma County and know everybody who is anybody. Harold is a great conversationalist and has a great love of art. Jerry supplied us with suggestions for anything we wanted to do: restaurants, wine tours, sightseeing, etc. He drew us maps, packed us a picnic basket, supplied our limo driver with a list of wineries to visits and even emailed us pictures he had taken of us at the breakfast table. Jerry and Harold made our stay at Bella Villa Messina memorable, because they made us feel like a long lost friends, not just out-of-town customers.
