“Best meal ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2014

We can't remember when we have enjoyed a meal more than our "Grande Dame" chef's 10-course tasting menu. Every dish was perfectly prepared, both in the balance and freshness of the flavors and the appearance. But unlike other tasting menus at other restaurants, the flavors were the stars of each dish (as opposed to sensationalized appearance). And the numerous tiny gifts from the chef in between each course were fun and wonderful, and gave us different tastes and novel preparations as well as previews of the next dish, but in a different form or format. And when we got to the final "meat" courses (squab and beef), instead of portions too big to finish, these were perfectly sized and perfectly prepared 3-4 bites of meat. The wine pairing was perfect too, as was the service. We were seated outside on a lovely, cool evening, which added to our pleasant experience (hint, bring a wrap to use until they turn on the heaters). The goat cheese macaroon after the meats and before the desserts is still a fond memory. We appreciated that the service charge was built into the price of the meal. We absolutely recommend this splurge.

“First Class Dining Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2014

The food, service, and ambiance at Madrona Manor were all first class. A prix fixe menu offered 6 scrumptious courses at a price much lower than you would probably pay in a big city. Attentive waiters brought everything promptly, explained all the dishes, and offered various amuse-bouches and palate cleansers in addition. Each dish was creative and beautifully presented but more importantly a joy on the palate. Madrona Manor is located in a hotel with several dining rooms, creating a gracious atmosphere. Do take a look at the valley views that it offers on your way in.

“Too pretentious”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2014 via mobile

I have eaten in this resturant several times over the years and in fact had the best meal of my life here in 2012 but last night was a letdown. There were a few bites of good food and one excellent course but several that were less than expected. Most notably the lamb was tough, fatty and underseasoned. Two courses featured something that tasted like grass. The service was overbearing and uncomfortable. Of course our meal for two was nearly 500 dollars so I think the chef needs to come back to reality and cook something delicious. I don't think I'll be back.

“Interesting and taste bud challenged”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014

We had the 10-course tasting menu. I agreed with many of the reviewers that the small bites before each course were interesting but did not really compliment to the main menu. I can see the chef is trying to be creative and Japanese inspired but some of the small bites were just too small and didn't turn out to be impressively tasty. So in a way, they didn't enhance the tasting experience. Some of the main courses - the caviar, squab and the beef were excellent! But I didn't like how the sauces took away the natural sweetness for lobster and abalone which I was really looking forward to enjoy them. The ambiance and service were good though I wish they seated us in the rooms with fireplace which I saw were nicer and more romantic as we departed the restaurant. We were the first customer in the evening so those tables were definitely available when we arrived. All in all, it was a unique experience but not impressive enough for the cost.

“Smashing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2014 via mobile

In an area where it's hard to find a bad meal, Chef Jesse and his team knock the dining experience out of the park. The flavors, presentation and wine pairings made this an experience I will never forget. Don't miss this.
